Born in Vienna on May 1 1993, Straka's family moved to the United States when he was 14. Having already showed a talent for golf, Straka and his twin brother played college golf for the University of Georgia.
He turned professional in 2016 and played on the PGA Tour Canada. Two years later, he earned his PGA Tour card - the first player from Austria to do so.
Straka represented Austria in the 2020 Olympic Games in Paris, finishing in a tie for 35th place at Le Golf National.
He won his first PGA Tour title at the Honda Classic in February, 2022 and has won four times in total, including two victories in 2025.
Straka made his Ryder Cup debut in Rome in 2023, earning a captain's pick from European skipper Luke Donald.
Straka played in three matches in 2023, winning one and losing two.
He partnered Shane Lowry to a 2&1 victory over Rickie Fowler and Collin Morikawa in the Friday morning foursomes, but Straka and Lowry lost to Max Homa and Brian Harman on Saturday morning.
Straka suffered a 2up defeat to Justin Thomas in Sunday's singles, but Europe still ran out comfortable winners by a five-point margin.
Straka made his major debut at the US Open in 2019 and has played in 18 major championships.
He has posted two top-10 finishes, his best result being a tie for second place at The Open in 2023.
