DP World Tour pro Callum Hill was disqualified from the inaugural Nexo Championship.

Scotland's Hill endured a torrid afternoon on Friday at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen.

The 30-year-old was up against it in a battle to make the cut after carding a four-over 76 in round one.

He started the second round on the back nine and, by the time he reached the par-4 eighth, his score hadn't changed.

Shot tracking shows Hill had found fairway with his tee shot but sent his approach 30 yards long of the green.

He chipped on to eight feet but missed the par putt and, after two more failed attempts, decided to pick up his ball and walk off the course.

Hill not the only DQ at the Nexo Championship

Hill's disqualification came 24 hours after England's Sam Bairstow was also booted out of the tournament after signing for a wrong score.

The 26-year-old thought he carded an opening one-over 73, but later realised that it should've been a 75 following a mix-up on the 14th.

Bairstow hit a wild tee shot left and was forced to hit a provisional.

He didn't find his first and went on to make what he thought was just a bogey.

The mistake will have likely enraged Bairstow, given he had played the previous 13 holes in three-under.

Bairstow went on play his final four holes in two-over.

The DQ will sting even more for Bairstow given he is currently 54th in the Race to Dubai Rankings.

Only the top 70 players reach the ABU Dhabi HSBC Championship.

After the conclusion of that tournament, only the top 50 will compete in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

Masters champ Rory McIlroy clinched his sixth Race to Dubai title last November.

Molinari's nightmare

Elsewhere, European Ryder Cup vice captain Edoardo Molinari also withdrew after playing 16 holes in round one.

Molinari had an absolute nightmare and was 14-over when he decided to retire from the event.

The Italian's card featured seven bogeys, two double bogeys and one triple.

It is unclear if the 44-year-old was suffering with an injury.

England's Jordan Smith and Scotland's Grant Forrest led on six-under after 18 holes.
