LIV Golf Andalucia R2 scores: Tyrrell Hatton proves practice may be overrated

Tyrrell Hatton maintained his lead at the halfway stage of LIV Golf's stop in Spain.

Tyrrell Hatton joked the test of Valderrama may give his peers a taste of what it's like to regularly lose their mind on the course after he snatched the 36-hole lead at LIV Golf Andalucia.

The Englishman missed the breakaway tour's stop in Korea last week to attend the birth of his first child.

Despite barely being able to practice, the European Ryder Cup star shared the lead after 18 holes in Spain on Thursday.

A productive two-under 69 on Friday saw the 33-year-old reach six-under overall and grab a two-shot lead over Belgium's Thomas Detry.

Home favourite Sergio Garcia and former Open champion, Cameron Smith, are three strokes adrift of Hatton.

Jon Rahm told reporters he got 'Valderramaed' on day one but moved up inside the top 10 with a 67.

"This golf course can be very frustrating," Hatton said.

"Obviously I lose my head around the simplest of golf courses. Maybe guys playing this week, it kind of brings them closer to my level of losing their mind."

Hatton added: "I'm happy with how I've played the last two days.

"Even today when it was difficult, I was in some difficult positions, I still didn't feel like I was hitting that bad a golf shot.

"But it kind of happens around here, and ultimately [I am] just happy with how the back nine played out.

"I am looking forward to the weekend now."

Victory this week would represent Hatton's second LIV title since joining the league in 2024.

But he is not getting ahead of himself.

"I mean, it's a quality leaderboard, there's a long way to go, and I'll just keep trying my best," he said.
