LIV Golf team confirm two players have re-signed for 2026 season
Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood have penned new deal with LIV Golf and will captain the Majesticks in 2026.
News that Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood have re-signed as co-captains of the Majesticks in the LIV Golf League appears to have been met by complete indifference.
Poulter and Westwood were among the first wave of players to be recruited by the PIF-backed breakaway in 2022, with former Open champion Henrik Stenson also owning equity in the franchise.
Stenson was relegated from LIV this season and has already been replaced in the Majesticks line-up by England's Laurie Canter.
Canter, who has given up a PGA Tour card to return to LIV Golf, became the second player acquisition of the off-season after three-time DP World Tour winner Victor Perez linked up with the Cleeks.
Poulter and Westwood were always expected to be part of the line-up next season but LIV decided to tease a special announcement on social media, prompting speculation that another new addition could be announced.
Instead, it was revealed that Poulter and Westwood have officially re-signed with the Majesticks.

"I've been part of Majesticks Golf Club from day one, and am excited to continue on that journey as a player and co-captain," said Poulter.
"What we've built here, both on and off the course is special, with a clear long-term vision.
"LIV Golf has changed the game in ways that excite both players and fans, and being part of that evolution has been incredible. Re-signing for 2026 is an easy decision for me.
"I'm as motivated as ever, and I can't wait to help drive this team forward into the 2026 season."
Several X users felt the announcement wasn't needed.
"Oh thank God," one said. Another added: "Was this necessary to tease an announcement for?"
Abraham Ancer switches team
Elsewhere, Sergio Garcia will have a new teammate next season after Abraham Ancer decided to switch sides.
Ancer was part of Garcia's Fireballs from day one, but has opted to move to Joaquin Niemann's Torque.
He joins forces with Sebastian Munoz and Carlos Ortiz, replacing the relegated Mito Pereira.
It is unclear who will replace Ancer on Garcia's team, but there is speculation that Luis Masaveu will take his spot.
Masaveu joined Garcia's team at the beginning of 2024, but was replaced by former U.S. Amateur champion Josele Ballester halfway through the season.

Laurie Canter played in the first LIV Golf event at Centurion Club in 2022.
He played in several LIV Golf events as a reserve but turned his attention back to the DP World Tour at the end of the 2023 season.
Multiple victories on Europe's top circuit lifted Canter into the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the very first time and earned him a first Masters start.
He finished seventh on the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai rankings, earning a first PGA Tour card.
But he was offered a chance to re-join LIV.
He explained the rationale behind the move on this week's Chipping Forecast where he was scrutinised by good friend Eddie Pepperell.
