Abraham Ancer has decided to leave Sergio Garcia's LIV Golf team ahead of the 2026 season.

Abraham Ancer has decided to switch LIV Golf teams ahead of the new season.

The 34-year-old joined the PIF-backed breakaway from the PGA Tour in 2022 and has since been a member of Sergio Garcia's Fireballs.

But the Mexican has confirmed he has left the former Masters champion's quartet and will represent Joaquin Niemann's Torque in 2026, replacing the relegated Mito Pereira.

Garcia has not revealed the 34-year-old's replacement, but there has been speculation that Luis Masaveu will re-join the Spanish team.

Masaveu joined LIV Golf in January 2024 but was replaced in Garcia's team mid-way through the season by the highly-rated Jose Luis Ballester.

After leaving the Fireballs, Masaveu played the remainder of the season as a wildcard.

Ballester, a former U.S. Amateur champion who hit the headlines for the wrong reasons at the 2025 Masters, recently captured his first win as a professional at the PIF Saudi International.

It is also understood that Garcia's team may be re-branded ahead of LIV's fourth full season, changing their name to Real Club de Toros GC.

Ancer said: "I would like to thank Fireballs GC players, caddies and staff for the last four years and for helping me grow as a person and a player.

"I will be forever grateful for that stage of my career and I wish them all nothing but the best in 2026 and beyond.

"Joining Torque GC is an exciting next step, both personally and professionally.

"Competing as part of an all-Latin team alongside close friends, whom I admire on and off the golf course adds a layer of connection and purpose that I can't wait to be a part of."

His teammates are Niemann, Sebastian Munoz and Carlos Ortiz.

Garcia said: "Abraham has been a cornerstone of Fireballs GC from day one.

"He has been an integral in building up the culture of this team, setting the standard for how we prepare, how we compete, and how we represent our club.

"His impact here goes far beyond the scorecard, and that kind of influence stays with you long after someone moves on."

LIV Golf kick off their 14-event 2026 season next February in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Jon Rahm is the reigning champion.

The breakaway tour has already announced two new additions, with England's Laurie Canter and France's Victor Perez joining the Majesticks and Cleeks respectively.

Canter finished seventh on the DP World Tour this season and earned a PGA Tour card via the Race to Dubai rankings, but he decided to give up duel membership in favour of a return to LIV.

Canter played several LIV Golf events between 2022-2024.

Perez, a three-time DP World Tour winner, announced on 18 November that he was joining LIV. At the time, he was facing a battle to keep hold of his PGA Tour card.

Last week, there were reports LIV were in "late stage negotiations" with Si Woo Kim.

Kim's management team confirmed talks were held, but the South Korean has committed to the PGA Tour's season opener in Hawaii.

Sungjae Im was also the subject of unsubstantiated speculation about his future.

His caddie, Willy Wilcox, has found the rumours particularly amusing, joking on X that Im had agreed a deal with NASA to play on a "new space tour" with events on "Mars and Neptune".
