Report: LIV Golf's Dustin Johnson finds replacement for Patrick Reed

Dustin Johnson has reportedly convinced former PGA Tour star Anthony Kim to join his LIV Golf team after Patrick Reed quit the PIF-backed breakway.

Dustin Johnson is poised to announce former PGA Tour star Anthony Kim has joined his LIV Golf team, according to a report.

Kim joined the PIF-backed breakaway in 2023 following a 12-year hiatus from the sport that saw his life descend into despair and addiction.

The 40-year-old struggled considerably across his first two seasons with LIV, finishing in the drop zone in back-to-back years.

LIV enforced relegation for the first time last year, though, in a move that appeared to appease the Official World Golf Ranking

Some expected Kim to retreat from the sport once again or make a few appearances on the Asian Tour's International Series this season in an attempt to get his LIV status back.

But the golfer, who played a starring role in the United States' 2008 Ryder Cup victory at Valhalla, won his spot back at LIV's "promotions" event in January.

Kim sent a message to his critics after the 72-hole shootout, explaining that he wasn't trying to prove anyone wrong with his comeback but only himself right

Once again, Kim was listed as a wildcard for the 2026 season but Patrick Reed's departure meant Johnson and the 4 Aces were scrambling for a replacement at the 11th hour.

Reed announced in late January his intention to return to the PGA Tour, following Brooks Koepka out the exit door after four seasons with LIV.

The 35-year-old American will return to the PGA Tour in July at the earliest and is attempting to improve his status for the 2027 season via the Race to Dubai on the DP World Tour.

Reed has essentially locked up a top-10 finish in the standings after winning the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and last week's Qatar Masters.

He is poised for another showdown with Rory McIlroy.

Johnson, meanwhile, had Miguel Tabuena, of the Phillipines, fill in for the 4 Aces last week as a reserve but according to Golfweek Kim has signed a one-year deal to join his team.

Kim's first start as a member of the squad - which also includes Belgian duo Thomas Detry and Thomas Pieters - will be at LIV Golf Adelaide this week.

He almost didn't make it as he forgot to get a visa to enter into Australia.

"S--- happens but at least I'm still sober," he wrote alongside a picture of his feet up in the departure lounge joking that he needed to employ an assistant.

Kim confirmed on 8 February his visa was approved.

In recent events, Kim has begun to show signs that he could get back to his best.

Kim also claimed in a recent interview on his YouTube channel that he would be better than he ever was during his pomp before injuries stalled his career.

His last professional victory was the 2010 Shell Houston Open.

The news means LIV's roster for the 2026 season is now complete.

The aforementioned Detry, along with Victor Perez, Laurie Canter, Elvis Smylie, Ben An and Michael La Sasso were the league's additions over the winter.
