'Oh yeah, it was me...' Scottie Scheffler makes shock confession after The Open
Scottie Scheffler owns up to viral video during the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush.
Scottie Scheffler has confessed it was him that passed wind down the microphone - and not a golf fan in the crowd as initially suspected - during his second shot into the 17th on day one at The Open last week.
As Scheffler sent his wedge shot down the flag on the short par-4 17th at Royal Portrush, a loud fart was picked up over the microphone.
It led to cries of laughter from both Andrew Cotter and Ken Brown in the commentary box.
"There's so much to say about that shot," said Cotter.
"The sound off the club face, extraordinary... let's stick to the golf."
Brown replied: "Just a little bit of wind from behind, just helped it ease down the green."
The shot was a cracker too, just as many were for Scheffler, who went on to see out a fourth career major title and first Open to pull him to within one more leg of the career grand slam.

Initially it was suspected that the passing of wind was from a golf fan to the right of Scheffler behind the ropes.
But the World No.1 confirmed during an appearance on Pardon My Take today that it was in fact himself.
"Yeah, that was me. Oh, yeah. It was me," asserted Scheffler, taking full ownership.
"You’re out there for like six hours," he added.
"You’re eating some different food over there. Some stuff’s gonna happen. You never know when the boom mics there. You never know what they’re gonna pick up.
"I’m definitely surprised it hasn’t happened more in the past, picking up stuff like that."

Scheffler admitted World No.3 Xander Schauffele rushed up to him after the round to show him the video, which quickly went viral.
"I literally didn’t think anything about it, then after we got inside, Xander was showing me the video," continued Scheffler.
"He pulls up the video, and I see myself standing on 17 and I’m like, ‘Oh, I know what this is.’"
Scheffler was then asked by the presenters of Pardon My Take to grade his fart.
"It was good," he replied. "It got a nice sound to it. We were outside. It was perfect."
