Tournament organisers of The Open have revealed ticket prices for the 155th edition of the major.

The R&A said ticket prices for the 2027 Open at St Andrews will start from £40 on practice days, with adults having to fork out £150 on tournament days.

To secure tickets, fans will have to apply through the ballot on the championship's website which opens on 6 July next month.

Under 16s won't be charged, a spokesperson for the R&A said, as part of their "Kids Go Free" initiative.

Discounted tickets for those aged 16-24 are also available.

"The Open returning to St Andrews is one of the truly iconic occasions in the sporting world and the demand to attend the Championship at the home of golf is always extremely high," said Mark Darbon, chief executive of The R&A.

"We are committed to delivering a world-class fan experience that reflects the stature of The Open.

"We have recently invested in elevating the Championship through new enhancements like the Last-Chance Qualifier, Heroes Classic and additional on-site entertainment and activities for fans.

"Whether it is watching the world’s best men’s players on the Old Course, enjoying the atmosphere or sharing the occasion with family and friends, fans can expect an unforgettable week and outstanding value for money.

"We want The Open to be accessible to as many people as possible and are proud to continue offering free admission for under-16s and discounted tickets for young adults as part of that commitment.

"By attending The Open, fans are also helping to support the future of golf with proceeds generated by the championship reinvested in activities which underpin our recently announced new strategy which aims to inspire more people to play and engage with golf more frequently worldwide, sustaining the sport’s positive current momentum."

The 2027 Open Championship will be played at the home of golf for the first time since Australia's Cameron Smith won the Claret Jug.

Smith won the landmark 150th Open in 2022 in front of a record-breaking crowd of 290,000 fans.

The LIV Golf recruit began the final round on the Old Course four shots behind joint-leaders Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland - but produced a putting masterclass to win by one.

The Open heads to Royal Birkdale next month for the first time since Jordan Spieth triumphed in 2017.
