Cadillac Championship Betting Tips: Can our expert tipster land another winner at Doral?

After landing a third winner in the last eight PGA Tour events, GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts looks to continue a hot streak at the Cadillac Championship.

GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts arrives at the $20m Cadillac Championship riding an impressive wave of form, having landed another standout winner at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Andy's selection of Matt Fitzpatrick and Alex Fitzpatrick at 12/1 proved spot on, marking yet another high point in what has been an exceptional run over the past two months.

That victory made it three outright winners in a short space of time, following earlier successes with Cameron Young at 35/1 at The Players and Matt Fitzpatrick again at 22/1 at the Valspar Championship.

It’s not just about picking winners either, as across the last eight weeks on the PGA Tour, at least one of Andy’s selections has finished inside the top five in seven of those events.

For anyone backing his picks each-way, that consistency has translated into a string of profitable returns, while even those sticking to win-only bets will be comfortably in the black since this tipping series began in Februrary.

If you had been playing Andy's picks the last eight weeks to a £1 win stake, you would be £50 ahead.

Last week could easily have made the pot even bigger too. Alongside the Fitzpatrick brothers, Andy’s 25/1 outsiders Davis Thompson and Austin Eckroat were firmly in the mix heading into the final round and briefly threatened to deliver Andy with a straight forecast.

Although they ultimately slipped back to a tie for sixth, some bookmakers paid out on top-six places, meaning there was still plenty to celebrate for those who backed each-way.

Now the focus shifts to the inaugural $20 million Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster course, a venue making its long-awaited return to the PGA Tour after a decade away.

With limited recent course form to go on, this week leans heavily on identifying the right skill sets, particularly on a layout that demands elite ball-striking, discipline in the wind and smart navigation of water hazards.

There is also a clear historical link between success here and strong performances at Augusta National, with a host of past Masters champions and contenders having thrived at Doral over the years. Incredibly, the top five players on the leaderboard at Doral last time out in 2016 - Adam Scott, Bubba Watson, Rory McIlroy, Danny Willett and Phil Mickelson - all have a Green Jacket to their names.

That trend could prove significant again this week, especially given the nature of the test.

Andy thinks only one man fits the bill.

Scottie Scheffler

PICK: SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER (10/3)

It is extremely difficult to look beyond the world number one at Doral.

Scottie Scheffler arrives in Miami off the back of consecutive runner-up finishes at The Masters and the RBC Heritage, and crucially, neither of the players who denied him victory in those events are in the field, in world number two McIlroy and world number three Fitzpatrick.

The absence of others such as Xander Schauffele and Ludvig Aberg only strengthens his position at the top of the market.

Scheffler’s consistency is currently unmatched. His tee-to-green game remains the best in the world, and even without previous competitive experience at Doral, everything about his profile suggests this course will suit him.

Tough, exposed layouts tend to favour the very best players, and Scheffler’s ability to control his ball flight, avoid big mistakes and dominate the key strokes gained metrics makes him the standout candidate.

His Masters record adds further weight, as we say Augusta National form tends to stack up well here, with multiple victories and a string of top-10 finishes that underline his comfort on demanding, strategy-heavy courses.

Statistically, the 20-time PGA Tour winner continues to lead the way, ranking among the very best in total driving while sitting top of the strokes gained total category.

While the price is short, Scheffler at 10/3 (or 'Burlington Bertie' 100/30 as it's better known in the trade) is a strong outright win selection.

Anything else?

Andy's strategy this week is clear. Play Scheffler (10/3) on the nose and triple your stake come Sunday night.

Away from the PGA Tour, Andy also likes David Puig at best odds 12/1 to win the Turkish Airlines Open over on the DP World Tour.

Andy would advise two singles on both Scheffler and Puig this week, with a win double on both players working out at odds of 55/1

As always, please gamble responsibly.
