Collin Morikawa makes significant personal announcement straight after Pebble Beach win
Moments after returning to the PGA Tour winner's circle, Collin Morikawa reveals he and his wife, Katherine, are expecting their first child.
Collin Morikawa revealed he and his wife Katherine are expecting their first child, moments after securing a dramatic victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
The two-time major champion shared his happy news following a nerveless birdie on the par-5 18th to seal a one-shot win over Min Woo Lee at famed Pebble Beach in California.
Morikawa, 29, closed the week at a joint tournament record 22-under par to claim his seventh PGA Tour title – and his first since the ZOZO Championship in October 2023.
“This win is special for a lot of reasons,” said an emotional Morikawa on the 18th green.
“But golf aside, we’re actually expecting later this year, in a few months, and we’ve just started telling people this week. We said what better way – the best way – to announce it to the world than if I was able to come out and win.
“There is so much to life, there is so much to enjoy. I’m hard on myself, but I’m just so thankful for the people around me and my team, Kat my wife and my family. I’m just speechless right now.”
The victory in the first Signature Event of the 2026 PGA Tour season earned Morikawa a $3.6m payday and propelled him to third in the FedEx Cup standings.
More importantly, it marked a significant return to the winner’s circle for one of the game’s elite ball-strikers.
Who is Collin Morikawa's wife?
Morikawa's wife is Katherine Morikawa (formerly Zhu).
Collin and Katherine married in November 2022 after meeting during their college years in 2017.
Zhu, born in 1996, attended Pepperdine University while Morikawa starred at the University of California, Berkeley.
“We found each other by chance,” Morikawa previously told PEOPLE magazine.
“But we chose to share our lives and dreams together.”
Golf has always been central to their relationship.
Zhu played collegiate golf for four years at Pepperdine, posting a scoring average of 76.54, and remains fiercely competitive on the course.
Morikawa has joked that she wins around 70 per cent of their chipping contests – and has even claimed his own college victories began to flow once they started dating.
Now, with another PGA Tour title secured and a new chapter on the horizon, 2026 is already shaping up to be one of the most memorable years of Morikawa’s life.
