England's Tommy Fleetwood will begin the final round of the RBC Canadian Open only two strokes adrift of the lead.

Fleetwood, 35, signed for a moving day three-under 67 at Osprey Valley's north course at TPC Toronto.

It saw the European Ryder Cup star reach 11-under par, two shots behind America's Jackson Suber.

Bud Cauley, Wyndham Clark, Brice Garnett, Jesper Svensson and Billy Horschel are also in contention, while 36-hole leader Ben James endured a calamitous afternoon and signed for an eight-over 78.

James, 22, is making his first start on the PGA Tour this week but was still all smiles after making his seventh par of the day at the 18th and received some warm words from playing partner Sam Burns.

"I played very well," said Fleetwood.

"I think it was like a really solid day. There was a patch in the middle where I thought I was hitting it really good, like six, seven, eight and nine.

"I was hitting really good shots and didn't really make the most of it, a few putts slid by.

"Other than that, I made a great birdie on 12, played 13 great, good birdie on 14.

"And then I felt like the finish was kind of tricky, to be honest with you."

Fleetwood played the final four holes in one-over, dropping a shot at the 17th.

"That was the only bit that was poor," he added. "I thought 18 was a very hard fairway to hit today.

"I did a lot of good stuff and overall I think it was a good round."

Fleetwood finished runner-up to Canada's Nick Taylor here two years ago, although the event was played Oakdale Golf & Country Club.

Taylor drained a 72-foot eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole against Fleetwood to spark wild scenes.

Fleetwood said: "I've always enjoyed coming here, I've always felt like the crowd are very friendly, very supportive, very hospitable.

"I've been lucky to get the right end of that as well.

"So it's always been nice and I don't think, I don't know maybe since then there's been a little bit of extra support for me."
