The RBC Canadian Open heads into the weekend with a packed leaderboard and a record Canadian contingent still in contention at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.
A total of 10 Canadians successfully advanced to the weekend — the most at the national championship since 1970 — ensuring plenty of home support as the tournament enters a pivotal third round.
Among those flying the flag for Canada over the final 36 are Taylor Pendrith, Nick Taylor, Adam Hadwin, Adam Svensson, Ben Silverman, Sudarshan Yellamaraju, Matthew Anderson, A.J. Ewart, Joey Savoie and amateur Justin Matthews.
The battle for the title remains wide open. PGA Tour rookie Ben James holds the 36-hole lead at 10-under-par in his professional debut, but he has plenty of company close behind.
A total of 11 players sit within two shots of the lead heading into Saturday, including defending champion Ryan Fox and five-time major champion Brooks Koepka, who surged into contention thanks to a red-hot putter.
GolfMagic's pre-tournament selections, Sam Burns and Tommy Fleetwood, are also firmly in the hunt, sitting just one and two shots off the pace respectively as they look to capitalise on a tightly packed leaderboard.
