Scottie Scheffler has broken his silence on Brooks Koepka’s surprise return to the PGA Tour, describing it as a positive move for both players and fans.

Koepka shocked the golf world on 23 December when he quit LIV Golf after four years, despite still having one year left on his $100m contract. Then three weeks later, he was reinstated to the PGA Tour under the new Returning Membership policy and is set to make his comeback at the Farmers Insurance Open next week.

Scheffler, widely regarded as one of the PGA Tour’s calmest and most composed voices, has welcomed the move, suggesting it raises the standard of competition across the board.

Speaking to SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio, the runaway World No.1 kept his response short but clear when asked about Koepka’s return.

"I think it’s good for the Tour, especially in the long run," said Scheffler. "I love being able to compete against him, and I’m looking forward to getting to do that a lot more often this year."

Scheffler's comments about Koepka echo those of both golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy

Rickie Fowler went further by not only encouraging his return, but also claiming the five-time major champion had been wanting to LIV Golf for quite some time

Koepka is the first player to rejoin the PGA Tour under the new programme, which opens the door for other high-profile names to follow.

Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith and Bryson DeChambeau were three eligible LIV Golf players who could have joined Koepka back onto the PGA Tour, but the trio have turned down the offer.

As it stands, DeChambeau is still in talks over extending his LIV Golf deal past 2026.

It's understood the two-time US Open champion is seeking $500m for his services.

Koepka’s first start back on the PGA Tour comes at next week's Farmers Insurance Open.

Scheffler, meanwhile, gets his 2026 campaign underway this week at The American Express.

Elsewhere, Koepka’s former LIV Golf team, Smash GC, has confirmed Harold Varner III as his replacement, moving over from Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC.

Talor Gooch will act as Smash GC captain.
