Truist Championship Betting Tips: Expert Picks for Quail Hollow revealed
Form guide, course fit and elite consistency point to two standout outright selections at the Truist Championship.
Welcome to our Truist Championship betting tips preview, where GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts is back with his selections for this week’s PGA Tour Signature Event at Quail Hollow Club.
Andy came agonisingly close again last week, with Scottie Scheffler finishing runner-up at the Cadillac Championship after being overhauled by a red-hot Cameron Young. It wasn’t a clean week for Scheffler either, as he left plenty out there on the greens, missing a number of short putts. Those missed opportunities ultimately proved decisive as Young won by six shots.
Despite hitting the crossbar with Scheffler, over the past nine weeks on the PGA Tour, Andy has landed three outright winners at odds of 35/1, 22/1, 12/1 — a 33% win strike rate.
Andy has also maintained a remarkable streak where at least one of his weekly tips has finished inside the top five for eight of the last nine weeks on the PGA Tour. That level of reliability has become the hallmark of this column, even when winners haven’t always landed, the place returns have been frequent, steady, and profitable for each-way punters.
Now attention turns to this week’s Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte — one of the most complete and demanding tests on the PGA Tour.
At just over 7,500 yards, Quail Hollow is a true modern power course where long hitters tend to thrive, but distance alone is not enough.
Players must also rank highly in greens in regulation, as approach play is absolutely critical on a layout where missed greens often lead to immediate trouble.
The fairways can appear generous in places, but the punishment comes quickly when you are out of position, with tightly mown run-off areas and awkward recovery shots placing a premium on control and precision.
Scrambling will play a major role this week for anyone who does miss greens, while water is a constant threat across the layout, coming into play on seven holes.
Quail Hollow's famous stretch is the brutal closing Green Mile, where mistakes tend to get amplified under pressure.
No lead is ever considered safe here, especially with the par-3 17th calling for a nerve-shredding 200-yard carry over water, and the par-4 18th, which is considered one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour with a stream running all the way down the left flank.
In short, Quail Hollow exposes weaknesses quickly. Power gets you into position, but elite ball striking and composure ultimately decide who wins on Sunday.
Rory McIlroy headlines the field after his historic Masters defence four weeks ago at Augusta, returning to a venue where he is a record four-time winner and arguably the most comfortable player in the field. That explains why he starts as favourite at best odds of 6/1.
However, despite McIlroy’s dominance here and Scheffler’s absence this week, Andy is looking elsewhere at the top of the market, landing on two elite, in-form players he believes represent the strongest betting angles.
Both of Andy's two selections are outright win plays, but each-way options are available at 1/4 odds first five places if you fancy cover.
TRUIST CHAMPIONSHIP 2026: BETTING TIPS
CAMERON YOUNG – 9/1
Cameron Young arrives at Quail Hollow playing the best golf of his career and looking every bit a dominant force on the PGA Tour.
After finally breaking through for his maiden win at the Wyndham Championship last August, Young has kicked on in spectacular fashion, adding multiple titles and establishing himself as one of the most dangerous players.
Three is very much the magic number for Young right now. He's won three times in his last 14 starts on the PGA Tour, ranks third in the FedEx Cup standings and he's just moved back to world number three.
Young's latest victory on Sunday at the Cadillac Championship was a statement performance as he finished 19-under-par and won by six shots over Scheffler, underlining just how destructive he can be when everything clicks.
What stands out most is how complete his game has become, testament to arriving in Charlotte off the back of six straight top-25 finishes including five top-10s and two wins.
Young's raw distance is still a huge weapon for him, but his control, decision-making and ability to close tournaments out have all taken a significant step forward.
Mentally, too, he looks in a great place, reflected none better than the way he dealt with his self-imposed penalty in the early stages of his final round on Sunday.
Quail Hollow is not unfamiliar territory either, with Young finishing tied second here in 2022, showing he already has the game to contend on this layout when his game is firing.
Now operating at a higher level than ever before, he combines elite driving distance with improved iron play and far greater consistency under pressure.
At best odds of 9/1, Young looks a standout win play in a field where few arrive with better momentum.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE – 12/1
Xander Schauffele may not always dominate headlines, but his game profile is tailor-made for Quail Hollow.
After a disrupted 2025 campaign due to a rib injury, the two-time major champion now looks fully back to his best and is quietly building one of the most consistent runs.
Schauffele arrives in Charlotte with seven consecutive top-25 finishes, including six finishes of tied 12th or better in his last seven starts, which underlines just how steady and reliable his game has become.
That consistency is backed up by an excellent course record at Quail Hollow.
He has finished runner-up here in both 2023 and 2024, along with a top-15 finish in 2021, proving he knows exactly how to contend on this demanding layout.
Schauffele's main strength is control rather than chaos. He rarely beats himself, keeps the ball in play, and consistently ranks highly for approach play, which is exactly what Quail Hollow demands.
At best odds of 12/1, the X-Man represents strong value as a proven course fit in excellent all-round form.
