Sir Nick Faldo's wife Lindsay has revealed the six-time major champion is "closing in on the finish line to a full recovery".

Faldo, 68, revealed on 16 January that he underwent open-heart surgery and spent two full weeks in hospital before returning home to his ranch in Montana.

The Englishman needed the procedure to repair an enlarged aorta. The surgery was performed at The Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Lars Svensson.

Faldo's wife, Lindsay, revealed in a post on X that he was looking forward to making a full recovery and hopefully returning to Augusta National in a few weeks' time for the 2026 Masters.

And it appears Faldo will be able to make it to the tradition unlike any other.

"The days leading up to surgery carried their share of fear," Lindsay said in a statement posted on X. "Many of you later shared how deeply you felt that with us.

"Now, as we enter six weeks on the other side, there is something different — relief.

"The kind that feels like a quiet exhale. The sense that we are over the hump and moving forward with firm ground beneath us.

"He's doing very well. Recovery is steady, and perspective has settled in where fear once lived."

She added: "We are deeply grateful for the exceptional care he received.

"Experiences like this deepen your appreciation for the physicians, nurses, and teams who dedicate their lives to cardiovascular health.

"Aortic conditions in particular can develop quietly, often without obvious symptoms. If sharing this experience raises awareness for even one person, it’s worthwhile.

"I'm especially thankful to the many women who reached out to share their own experiences supporting a spouse through major surgery — often while balancing families, careers, and everyday responsibilities.

"Their honesty and encouragement meant more than they know.

"For anyone walking this path now, know this: fear is real — but relief comes too. You are not alone. And you do get through it.

"Six weeks on. Steady. Grateful. Moving forward together."

Faldo is widely regarded as Britain's greatest player of the modern era.

He captures six major titles during his illustrious career.

Faldo, who spent a total of 97 weeks as the world number one, won The Masters three times (1989, 1990, 1996) and The Open on three occasions (1987, 1990, 1992).

He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1997.
