Viktor Hovland just proved why he's the biggest joker in Ryder Cup history
Viktor Hovland cracks up reporters with a hilarious take ahead of the Ryder Cup at Bethpage.
Viktor Hovland once again proved why he's the biggest joker on the PGA Tour with a hilarious take on the eve of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage.
Hovland, 28, was asked by a reporter how he goes about preparing for an away Ryder Cup match in New York where the majority of fans will be actively rooting against him this week.
The Norwegian then cracked up the media room with his response, which you can watch below...
"There's going to be some comments here and there. They won't really come close to the thoughts that I have in my own head."

"I think you've just got to stick to your game, and if you play well, you know, there's going to be some comments here and there," said Hovland.
"They won't really come close to the thoughts that I have in my own head, so I think I'll just laugh it off for the most part.
"You know, just try to smile it off and make a few birdies. That usually seems to do the trick."
Appearances | Matches | Record | Points % | Top Points Combined | Top Points Europe |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2 | 10 | 3–4–3 | 45.00 | 22/1 | 11/1 |
Hovland is making his third straight appearance on the European Ryder Cup team.
He owns a mixed 3-4-3 record, which equates to 45%.
Hovland is priced up at 11/1 to be the top points scorer for Europe at Bethpage.
He's 22/1 to top score in the overall market.
A video of Hovland went viral at yesterday's Opening Ceremony where he was seen telling Shane Lowry and Bob MacIntyre that he just had the best range session he's had since 2023.
Hovland was asked to speak about that.
"Yeah, that was obviously really sweet. Timely that it came yesterday. Obviously this is a golf course that you have to drive it really well, and been kind of struggling with the driver, but it's been a long time since I've been able to stand on the range and just kind of beat balls fluidly, effortlessly without trying to feel like I'm steering it.
"When I went to film it, as well, it looked a little bit different. It looked definitely better than other swings that I've made lately. So really pleased with that.
"Hope the weather stays okay so I can continue that feel and see if it holds up. I think we've all been there; we find a feel and think we're back, and the next day it all falls apart. Kind of looking forward to try to test it out a little bit more today."
Hovland has endured mixed results on the PGA Tour in 2025.
He won the Valspar Championship earlier in the season but he has since registered just three top-10 finishes since then.
Thankfully though, two of those top-10s have come in two of his last three starts entering Bethpage.
During Ludvig Aberg's press conference on Wednesday, it came to light that Hovland is an expert when it comes to UFOs.
Hovland was asked on Thursday to expand.
"What's up with that?" laughed Hovland.
"It's just something that I've been into the last couple years.
"I think I've always been extremely into my golf, and sometimes you just look at your golf swing and trying to practice hard and you don't really get the results that you want, it can be quite frustrating, and I think it's been one of those things that I've kind of taken my mind off of golf a little bit.
"And then the more you go into it, you just get more questions. It's one of those things that you don't really find any more answers but it's very interesting to go in there and kind of challenge some of your beliefs that you currently hold, and you kind of have to expand your mind a little bit.
"I think it's super fascinating because it touches on so many different topics, as well. I find it really interesting."
