PGA Championship: Shane Lowry fumes after hitting "one of the worst tee shots ever"
Shane Lowry hit a brutal shank on Aronimink's 17th hole on day two of the PGA Championship.

Former Open champion Shane Lowry could not hide his frustration after hitting a shocking tee shot on day two of the 2026 PGA Championship.
Lowry, 39, made a solid start to the second men's major of the year at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
The 2019 Claret Jug winner carded a two-under par 68 on Thursday to sit only one stroke adrift of the lead.
Lowry was out in the morning wave on Friday and hoped to make a big move up the leaderboard.
But the European Ryder Cup star, who began on the back nine, endured a tough start by dropping two shots over his first six holes.
By the time he reached the 214-yard par-three 17th, Lowry was level par for the tournament.
Then he hit one of the worst tee shots seen in a major championship in recent memory, shanking (topping?!) his golf ball just 164 yards straight into the water
Lowry could not hide his frustration and, after hitting his third from the drop zone onto the green, launched the cover for his putter towards his Srixon staff bag.
The outburst of anger will likely see Lowry warned under a new code of conduct.
In the end, Lowry trudged off the green with an ugly double-bogey five and slumped to four-over for the championship.
Take a look at the shot here:
At the time, it left Lowry two strokes off the projected cut.
Lowry has endured a disappointing season, with only two top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour.
In February, he was primed for victory at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches but hit the self-destruct button.
During the final round, at the 16th and 17th holes at PGA National to blow a three-shot lead.
Lowry also threw away the Dubai Invitational in January after finding the water again on the 18th.
To his credit, Lowry bounced back with a good showing at the 2026 Masters.
During the third round, he aced the sixth hole at Augusta National and entered the final round with a bona fide chance to win the coveted green jacket.

But sadly for Lowry, a disastrous final round saw him tumble down the leaderboard and he has never really recovered since.
Lowry admitted as much to reporters last night.
"I struggled," Lowry said. "I felt uncomfortable out there for a while.
"I felt like I did a really good job of just staying patient, trying to make birdies when I hit good shots.
"And if I hit bad shots, just not getting too flustered and just kind of managing my way around the course nicely.
"I just think I managed myself around the course very well today."
