Charlie Woods WITB: Everything in the bag of the 17-year-old prodigy

No young player in the world of golf, or indeed sport, has bigger shoes to fill than that of Charlie Woods.

16-year-old Woods, the son of arguably the game's greatest ever player, has spent the last few years making headlines with basically every tournament he plays. Already, he's displayed prowess as one of the nation's best golfers in his age class, placing ninth at the 2025 Junior PGA Championship and scoring his first American Junior Golf Association victory at this year's Team TaylorMade Invitational.

Now, Woods is teeing it up in the biggest tournament of his fledgling career so far at the U.S. Junior Amateur, where he sits tied for 121st after a disappointing opening round 76.

While there's no doubt that if he keeps on his current trajectory he could well be on the path to stardom in his own right, every move and swing he makes along the way will be done so under unique levels of scrutiny.

Much like his father, Woods has pretty much the entirety of the golf equipment world at his disposal. Given Tiger's links to TaylorMade, however, the young prodigy plays in a similar setup to that of his dad, even going so far as to game the P7TW irons co-developed by TaylorMade and Tiger a few years back. He also signed on with TaylorMade as a sponsored athlete back in 2024.

So what exactly resides in Charlie's bag? Thankfully, Woods recently gave YouTube AJGA Golf the most complete breakdown of his setup yet. Check it out below, and read on for the full breakdown.

Driver: TaylorMade Qi4D

While Tiger still plays a combination of older TaylorMade metal woods, Woods has moved into the brand's most recent driver for the 2026 season, pairing his Qi4D driver head with a low-spin, low-launch Graphite Design Tour AD DI 6X shaft.

Fairway Woods: TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini, TaylorMade Qi4D

The younger Woods overhauled the upper end of his bag to start the 2026 season, opting for the now-trendy pairing of a mini driver and a 7-wood.

The 3-wood is fitted with Mitsubishi's Diamana TM WB shaft: an ultra low-spin, low-launch model designed to deliver piercing ball flight, which Woods has installed in a 3-wood length for more versatility on the fairways. 

The higher-launching 7-wood has a Fujikura Ventus Black shaft — a model also favoured by players like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.

Irons: TaylorMade P770, P7TW

Tiger's iron play was legendary, so it stands to reason that Woods has an extensive suite of irons in the bag. Uniquely, he has two different 3-irons to choose from, with irons from three different TaylorMade models.

Following in the footsteps of his dad, the bulk of Woods' iron make-up is made of the P7TW irons gamed not just by the elder woods, but Scottie Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood as well. 

A riff on the P7 muscle-back irons, the P7TW are designed to deliver a classic aesthetic with the workability and performance of elite forged blades, with the longer blade length, thinner topline and progressive face height all precision-manufactured to meet Tiger's own personal preference.

For more forgiveness towards the top of the bag, Woods also has a pair of P7CB irons in 3 and 4-iron lofts, as well as a more musculer P770 3-iron that he uses as a driving iron.

Wedges: TaylorMade MG5

Familiarity is key when it comes to the shorter clubs, and for a long time Woods used a set of TaylorMade MG 2.0 wedges manufacturerd some years ago. This year, however, he moved into a new pair of MG5 wedges, one featuring the specific TW grind, aimed at improving versatility and shotmaking around the greens.

Putter: Scotty Cameron 009

Tiger's trusty Scotty Cameron is one of the most legendary clubs out there, so it's perhaps fitting that Charlie is a long-time user of the classic bladed putter model. The young Floridian experimented with putting a L.A.B Golf DF3 zero torque putter in the bag at the end of last year, but has since switched back to the more old-school option, which is fitted with a corded SuperStroke grip for an even more traditional feel.

Golf ball: TaylorMade TP5

Woods has gamed both the Bridgestone Tour B X and the Titleist Pro V1x in recent times, but has since switched into the TaylorMade TP5. Also used by Rory McIlroy, the TP5 has a lower-launching profile and a slightly softer feel than the standard TP5x.
