With four new Callaway driver models hitting the USGA Conforming list this week, TaylorMade getting their new driver into Rory McIlroy's bag already and PXG this morning taking the covers off its own new driver range, it's fair to say equipment silly season is officially well underway.

Now, another of golf's big five has quietly revealed the first details of its forthcoming driver range. This time it's the turn of Cobra, who joined Callaway this week in having what seems to be its own 2026 driver range, named the OPTM line, added to the USGA's list in time for play at this weekend's Hero World Challenge.

Four new models in total have hit the list, following an identical naming convention to last year's DS-ADAPT range. The OPTM MAX and MAX-D will be the range's pair of max forgiveness, max MOI models, the latter engineered with a draw bias to help players who struggle with a slice. The OPTM X will be the core model, while the OPTM-LS will be the low-spin option most likely to be seen on tour.

In keeping with USGA list protocol, renders of the OPTM range were only provided in black and white. However insider account SMS on Tour dropped photos of three of the four models being tested at pro events this week, indicating that the OPTM range will follow the same colouring convention as the DS-ADAPT line (Red for MAX-D, Silver for MAX, Blue for X and all-black for LS).

It's not unfair to say Cobra could do with a win with the OPTM range, having fallen towards the periphery on tour in recent times. While Max Homa was a big signing for the brand, his steady slide down the OWGR rankings this year (he now sits 132nd, in case you're wondering) has removed a bit of the shine from what was supposed to be Cobra's new marquee moment.

And while industry reviews of their clubs continue to be excellent, the fact that Cobra doesn't have a single staff player inside world golf's top 75 isn't exactly conducive to TV time.

Cobra naturally hasn't revealed any further tech details on the driver beyond what's immediately visible in the images.

What we can gleam, however, is that the OPTM range will have a fairly prominent carbon crown, with new systems of adjustable weights engineered differently to suit the launch and spin characteristics Cobra are trying to achieve with each model.

We'd expect Cobra's marquee FutureFit33 hosel system to carry over to the new range, with new weight ports labeled for things like 'accuracy, forgiveness, fade and draw adding even more fitting combinations across each model'.

That, sadly, is all we're allowed to know for now. However as soon as we get more official details, we'll be sure to update this space.
