Kai Trump WITB: Everything Trump has in the bag for her debut LPGA appearance

There's not much you can write about Kai Trump, grand-daughter of the President of the United States and LPGA hopeful, that hasn't already been said at length.

The 18-year-old, who's signed to play her college golf with the University of Miami from next year, is emerging as one of the largest female personalities in the online golf space, with over three million followers across YouTube and Instagram.

Owing partly to her own popularity and certainly in some part to her grandfather's sway in the game of golf, to much controversy Trump was granted a sponsor's exemption to play in her first LPGA event this weekend, causing even more conjecture by posting a 13-over 83 in her opening round.

There is, of course, a long way yet to go in Trump's journey en route to professional status. Reportedly playing off a handicap of +0.5, there's no doubt that she can play, and the rigours of high level college golf will mould her into a far more battle-hardened player than any sponsor's invite. Just how far she can go, however, remains to be seen.

An official Team TaylorMade player, Trump signed an endorsement deal with the equipment giant in February this year, posting a YouTube video on the fitting process she went through at TaylorMade's legendary performance centre, The Kingdom.

Naturally, the Floridian plays a full suite of TaylorMade's clubs from the driver through to the putter. However her clubs do carry some interesting quirks. Notably, she plays graphite shafts the entire way through her bag, with her irons and even wedges fitted with Fujikura's Ventus Black stiff shafts.

Trump, whos mother Vanessa is currently dating Tiger Woods, also has her Spider Tour X putter fitted with a Ping PP58 grip – the same grip used by the big cat on his legendary Scotty Cameron putter. Perhaps a hand-me-down from the GOAT himself? Who knows?
