LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman believes his controversial Saudi-backed Invitational Series has "revived the sport in record time" ahead of hosting the Team Championship season finale at Trump National Doral.

A staggering $50 million is up for grabs for the 12 qualified teams in the eighth and final LIV Golf Team Championship this week, with $16 million going to the winning team.

LIV Golf tournaments have put up $255 million in prize money across eight tournaments this season.

A new LIV Golf League will come into force in 2023, which will feature 12 established team captains and $405 million in total prize money across 14 tournaments.

It is also understood that at least four current PGA Tour players in the World Top 50 will be making a move to LIV Golf ahead of the new season.

Norman said:

"LIV Golf has revived the sport in record time during our beta-test season.
"Players are celebrating the team format which is bringing new energy and audiences to golf that the game deserves.
"It’s fitting that we tie a bow on this historic year with a dramatic and innovative team championship that will propel us into a team-focused league from 2023 onward."

Twelve four-man teams in the LIV Golf Team Standings head to Miami going in search of team glory this week.

Points were awarded to teams at each event of the LIV Golf season based on their finishing position, with 32 points handed out to winners down to 0 for those finishing ninth to 12th in the 48-man fields.

Following the seventh and final regular season event, team standings determined seeds one to 12 for the Team Championship.

Top-seeded 4 Aces GC (152 points), second seed Crushers GC (96), third seed Fireballs GC (93), and fourth seed Stinger GC (72) earned a bye and automatically advance to Saturday’s semi-finals.

The remaining highest-ranked teams will select their opponents for Friday’s quarterfinal matchups at a live press conference at Doral.
