LIV Golf's Pat Perez has announced the death of his little brother Mikey.

Perez took to Instagram to confirm the sad news on 25 July.

The golfer did not say how his brother passed, only writing 'I thought this day would never come' in an emotional tribute.

Above a family photograph, Perez wrote:

"This is the saddest day of my life. My little brother Mikey has passed. I don't know what to say as I thought this day would never come. We had so much fun together growing up and he was always in my corner. We did everything together. He wanted nothing but my happiness and was so proud of me. He was the life of the party.
"Everyone that knew him loved him and he was always happy and upbeat. It's hard to believe that I won't be able to call him anymore and we won't be able to spend time with each other. He was such a big part of my life and losing him is beyond devastating. I'm really at a loss for words.
"Gonna be a long life without him in it. I Love you little brother. I hope we get to see each other again one day and I hope you find your peace."

LIV Golf pro announces death of little brother:

Mikey was four years younger than Pat. He was also a golf pro with more than 28 years' experience in the game.

He was a highly thought of instructor and even made an appearance on the PGA Tour in 2010.

Pat joined LIV Golf last June, defecting from the established PGA Tour at the height of golf's 'civil war'.

He was one of 11 golfers who sued the PGA Tour after the North American circuit fined and suspended players for joining the rival league backed by Saudi oil money.

Perez later withdrew from the litigation, citing that he didn't fully think through his decision

Over the last 13 months, Pat has been extremely critical of PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan

In the team element of LIV, Pat represents the 4 Aces alongside Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed and Peter Uihlein.
