Brabazon Challenge returns to The Belfry

Following a record number of entries in 2011, the highly-acclaimed Brabazon Challenge at The Belfry is back.

For just £199, a team of two can enter the Stableford competition in one of six qualifying rounds - rather than last year’s five - staged between April and September.

The top team from each of the six two-ball better-ball qualifiers will progress to a Grand Finals weekend from October 19-21, along with the two teams with the next highest scores from all qualifiers.

The six qualifying rounds will take place on April 10, May 22, June 5, July 10, August 14 and September 18.

“The Brabazon Challenge continues to grow every year and we’d encourage more golfers to enter this year as it offers a great chance to play the course when it’s at its best,” said The Belfry’s director of golf Gary Silcock.

“We’re proud of our relationship with nine of the world’s leading golf manufacturers and their continued support will hopefully make the event even bigger this time around.”

A total of 142 pairs took part in the 2011 competition that saw Edwin Martin of Upminster Golf Club and Kevin Lye of Romford Golf Club edge out Purdis Heath’s Peter Brady and Rotherham’s Peter Mogan 3&2 in the final.

Golfers who sign up to The Brabazon Challenge are also being offered a special half-price practice round on the day before qualifying events at £70 per golfer after 2pm, while preferential bedroom rates are available in the hotel on the night before qualifying at £79 per single room and £99 per double room.
