Gary Players wins Shell Award
Player Named Global Ambassador for
Gary Player, the winner of 163 tournaments during his career, has been named Global Ambassador for “Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf.” Player’s two-year deal with Shell calls for commentary for three of Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf matches each year. Additionally, Player will play Jack Nicklaus on July 25, 2000, in Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf at Sunningdale in London.
“I’m thrilled to be involved with such a responsible organisation that cares about the future and integrity of golf,” said Player, one of only four men to win all four major championships. “I look forward to a long and productive relationship with Shell.”
“Gary Player is a gentleman both on and off the course and embodies all the characteristics of our original ambassador, Gene Sarazen,” said Kevin West, Sponsorship Manager for the Shell brand.
