Thailand's Yeh Weh Tze seems to be cruising to the Davidoff Order of Merit title

Yeh Weh cruising to title

Yeh Wei-tze's unrelenting march towards the
2000 Davidoff Tour Order of Merit title is set to pick up pace at the
US$275,000 Maekyung Daks Open at Nam Seoul Country Club, Korea from April
27-30.

The Taiwanese player, winner of the co-sanctioned US$825,000 Benson &
Hedges Malaysian Open in February, has entered the Korean event, which is
the fourth leg of the Asian PGA circuit. Presently, Yeh has a commanding
lead in the moneylist with his haul of US$142,366 from three starts and
enjoys a US$76,889 cushion over second-placed Jyoti Randhawa, the
newly-crowned Wills Indian Open winner.

The 27-year-old Yeh, who was once coached by his country's most famous
golfer Lu Liang-huan, known better as Mr Lu, will also attempt to extend a
personal streak on the Davidoff Tour at the Maekyung Daks Open.Yeh Weh cruising to title In his
three outings, Yeh has consistently finished inside the top-10. After the
historic triumph in the Malaysia Open, which made Yeh only the third Asian
to win a European Tour event, he went on to finish joint eighth at the
Casino Filipino Open and tied for 10th at the Wills Indian Open in March.
He did not play at the London Myanmar Open.

Undoubtedly, Yeh is one of the latest young stars to emerge from the
growing Davidoff Tour and is well poised for stardom although six months
ago, he was just another face on tour. The son of a fisherman, Yeh never
recorded a professional victory previously and even contemplated quitting
life as a touring professional. His first round of 74 at the Malaysian Open
left him scrambling to merely make the cut but in the next three rounds,

Yeh was a brilliant 12-under-par. His four-day total of 10-under-par 278
gave him a one-shot victory over some of the biggest names in the game.

With a stretch of four events lined up till May, and over US$1 million in
total prize money to play for on the Davidoff Tour spring swing, Yeh knows
that his pursuers, including Han and Randhawa, could close the gap if he
misses a step in his march towards the Merit title.

After the Maekyung Daks Open, the Davidoff Tour will head to the US$200,000
Macau Open where former US Masters and British Open winner, Mark O'Meara of
the United States, will provide the star appeal from May 11-14 at Macau
Golf and Country Club.

Han will then defend his US$400,000 Volvo China Open crown at the Shanghai
Silport Golf Club the following week. The second Ericsson Classic in
Taiwan, which was postponed last year due to the untimely earthquake which
hit the country, will be staged at Sunrise Golf and Country Club from May
25-28 where Lu Wen-teh will defend his title.
