Tiger Woods letter to Augusta National aged 19, revealed!
Tiger Woods releases his new book titled "The 1997 Masters: My Story."
Tiger Woods has released a new book, of which the key extract reads a letter he wrote to Augusta National as a fresh-faced 19-year-old.
Woods, a four-time Masters champion, won the first of his 14 majors at Augusta in 1997, a tournament he won by a record 12 shots.
STEINBERG: TIGER NOT EVEN THINKING ABOUT MASTERS
He also became the youngest Masters winner aged 21 years, 3 months and 14 days old. In 2015, Jordan Spieth later came within five months of bettering Woods' record.
Before then in 1995, Woods made his Masters debut as a 19-year-old Stanford freshman and was the only amateur to make the cut when tying for 41st. He then played again in 1996, aged 20, but missed the cut.

In his new book, titled The 1997 Masters: My Story and written alongside Lorne Rubenstein, the former world number one goes into detail about his amateur appearance at Augusta National before his record-breaking 1997 Masters triumph.
One of the most heartwarming extracts from the book is the letter Woods wrote to Augusta after closing with a round of 72 back in 1995...
It was fantasyland and Disney World wrapped into one. I was treated like a gentleman throughout my stay and I trust I responded in kind.
The Crow's Nest will always remain in my heart and your magnificent golf course will provide a continuing challenge throughout my amateur and professional career.
I've accomplished much here and learned even more. Your tournament will always hold a special spot in my heart as the place where I made my first PGA cut and at a major yet! It is here that I left my youth behind and became a man.
For that I will be eternally in your debt. With warmest regards and deepest appreciation.
Sincerely,
Tiger Woods
