Luke List has missed his last four cuts on the PGA Tour, but he still finds himself in the second event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs with an outside chance of playing at the Tour Championship.

Unfortunately for the American, who beat Will Zalatoris in a playoff to win the Farmers Insurance Open in January, he is now projected 51st in the FedEx Cup standings after shooting 7-over-par in the first round of the BMW Championship.

List's key weakness in 2022 has been his putting. He is ranked 200th in strokes gained in putting and 199th in overall putting average and on Thursday at Wilmington Country Club, his woes on the greens truly peaked.

According to Rick Gehman of CBS Sports, the 37-year-old lost 8.54 strokes on the greens in yesterday's first round. This is the third-worst round of putting recorded since 2008 on Tour.

List missed seven putts inside 10 feet in Delaware which led to seven bogeys and no birdies. On the 1st hole, he three-putted and on the 2nd hole, he three-putted.

So far this season, with just the Tour Championship to come, List has made 55.93% of six-footers and he averages almost 30 putts in each round.

Ahead of the BMW Championship, he was ranked 42nd in the FedEx Cup standings and in good shape to challenge the top 30 players who will play at East Lake in the season-ending finale.

At the top of the leaderboard after round one is Keegan Bradley. Bradley won the 2018 BMW Championship and on Thursday, he shot his joint-lowest nine-hole score of 29 on his way to a round of 7-under-par.

List will need an almighty turnaround in the next three days if he is to compete for the $18 million bonus that is awarded to the winner of the FedEx Cup next week.
