Ian Poulter would deliver against Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy would destroy Patrick Reed. These were just some of the predictions as GolfMagic entertained the idea of a PGA Tour-LIV Golf match in the latest episode of From The Tips.

In case you haven't heard, Greg Norman and his lackey Phil Mickelson have called for the two rival circuits to face off.

LIV "boss" Norman believes the event would rival the Super Bowl.

We've got to be honest, Greg, you might need to drop a lawsuit first if you want this to happen.

The idea was posited to Mickelson, 52, last week when he awoke from his social media slumber.

He absolutely loved the prospect and even made a personal dig at his old adversary Tiger Woods in a clear attempt to try and get the ball rolling.

That was after Lefty made perhaps one of the worst "dad jokes" we have ever heard:

"We would dominate them so soundly and it would be over so quick that TV would have to fill an hour of dead time.
"That's why it's not happening at this time."

Ba dum dum tsssss.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand and below are the pairings we came up with.

PGA Tour vs. LIV Golf

Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson

Rory McIlroy vs. Patrick Reed

Jon Rahm vs. Cameron Smith

Max Homa vs. Dustin Johnson

Xander Schauffele vs. Sergio Garcia

Patrick Cantlay vs. Talor Gooch

Jordan Spieth vs. Abraham Ancer

Tom Kim vs. Joaquin Niemann

Justin Thomas vs. Bryson DeChambeau

Matt Fitzpatrick vs. Paul Casey

Collin Morikawa vs. Brooks Koepka

Scottie Scheffler vs. Ian Poulter

There are some very good matches. Some are just too close to call.

GolfMagic's Editor Andy Roberts and Tour Writer Matt Chivers debated the topic with our presenter Harry Benjamin.

"I don't need to answer that one," Andy said as he predicted McIlroy would stuff Reed 5&4.

What about Scheffler against Mr Ryder Cup himself? "Mouth-watering tie that," added Andy.

He continued:

"Look, I respect Scheffler getting to World No.1 last year and winning four times. But Ian Poulter is a match play master. He's called The Postman because he delivers. I think he would be so up for this game.
"Like, so up for this game. Especially if he missed out on the Ryder Cup, this would probably become the highlight of his year that I just don't see how he would lose this game because he would be so determined to win it.
"Look, I appreciate Scheffler took down Rahm at the [last] Ryder Cup, I get all that, but I just think Poulter would have a little bit more power in this match."

By the end, there was a clear difference of opinion with regard to the final score.

Matt:

Team PGA Tour 9-3 Team LIV Golf

Andy:

Team PGA Tour 7-5 Team LIV Golf
