Rocket Mortgage Classic R3 | Finau will duke it out on Sunday with Pendrith

Tony Finau will have a chance to claim back-to-back victories on the PGA Tour at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Finau is tied for the lead with Canada's Taylor Pendrith at 21-under par at Detroit Golf Club after firing a Saturday 7-under 65.

It followed on from two round of 64 and 66 for the American, who is looking to claim his fourth victory on the circuit.

Pendrith's round of 66 contained eight birdies and two bogeys. He admitted that he will be feeling the pressure more than Finau.

He told the media: "I've never won before and Tony's a multiple winner and he won last week and he's playing great.

"I've got a nice opportunity tomorrow being tied with him going into Sunday, so there's 18 holes of golf left and who knows what will happen.

"I feel like my game's in a good spot, I'm driving it well, I'm hitting my wedges good, it's nice to see some putts go in.

"We'll see. It will be a fun experience and just looking forward to competing and see what happens."

Finau said: "I think I'm hitting a lot more greens even than I did last week.

"I feel like I hit it as good as I've hit it from tee to green last week, so I think I've definitely elevated that part of the game.

"It's nice to capitalize on some of the putts. I always say I'm making enough putts. Missed some [today], but I'm making enough to be right there and have a chance to win tomorrow."

Both Finau and Pendrith are being chased by the impressive rookie Cameron Young, who is five strokes adrift.

Young is duking it out with Sahith Theegala for the honour of the PGA Tour's Rookie of The Year.

The 25-year-old is in supreme form of late, with top-5 finishes at RBC Heritage, the Wells Fargo Championship, PGA Championship and The Open.

Patrick Cantlay has returned to form this week. He is in the top-10 after 54 holes but is likely too far adrift to contend for the win.

The winner here gets $1,512,000, a stark contrast to the money on offer at the LIV Golf Invitational in Bedminster at Trump National.
