Rory McIlroy told to "f*** off" by PGA Tour pro during "heated" player meeting!

Rory McIlroy was reportedly told to "f*** off" by fellow PGA Tour player Grayson Murray during an "intense and heated" players meeting hosted by PGA Tour boss Jay Monahan on Tuesday night.

The meeting was held after Monahan dropped a major bombshell that the PGA Tour would be merging with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF).

How much is Saudi PIF worth?!

The new deal effectively ends the 18-month divide between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf

PIF will now bankroll a separate entity made up of three of golf's biggest global Tours - the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf.

But Greg Norman is set to be forced out as LIV Golf CEO, according to one report.

Tensions have quickly risen

It is understood according to the Golf Channel that PGA Tour pro Grayson Murray, who is ranked 227th in the world, shouted out during Monahan's speech "we don't trust you, Jay - you lied to our face."

Rory McIlroy, the lead player voice of the PGA Tour, then yelled back: "Just play better, Grayson."

That comment from McIlroy apparently did not go down well in the room.

A source has since told Telegraph Sport that Murray, who recently won on the lower-tier Korn Ferry Tour, then hit back at McIlroy by telling him to "f*** off".

McIlroy was quizzed about the players meeting during his Wednesday press conference with the media.

He was asked about his relationship with Monahan and whether he thinks he is still the right man for the job as PGA Tour boss.

McIlroy took a moment to reflect, and then said the following:

"I do. And, look, I've dealt with Jay a lot closer than a lot of those guys have. From where we were a couple of weeks ago to where we are today, I think the future of the PGA Tour looks brighter as a whole, as an entity. What that looks like for individual players in terms of keeping a Tour card and bringing players back into the fold and then that sacrifices other people, that's where the anger comes from, right. And I understand that.
"There still has to be consequences to actions. The people that left the PGA Tour irreparably harmed this Tour, started litigation against it. Like, we can't just welcome them back in. Like, that's not going to happen. And I think that was the one thing that Jay was trying to get across yesterday is like, guys, we're not just going to bring these guys back in and pretend like nothing's happened. That is not going to happen.
"So I do have confidence in him. I think you ask the people around him that deal with him in a business sense, whether it's the directors of the board of the PGA TOUR or the title sponsors that he deals with, I mean, he seems to be a very impressive individual when it comes to business."

The reported spat between Murray and McIlroy happened while five PGA Tour players were forced out of the Canadian Open.

One PGA Tour pro competing in this week's Canadian Open revealed there is "no way players will be okay" with the LIV Golf merger via a leaked text message on social media.

Another PGA Tour pro was left "disgusted," while one DP World Tour pro told GolfMagic that the PGA Tour's change of heart with Saudi Arabia was simply a result of "money".

Telegraph Sport also reports that McIlroy's Irish compatriot Shane Lowry was another player to speak up at the players meeting.

Monahan even called himself a "hypocrite".
