Famous Australian PGA Championship kickstarts the 2026 DP World Tour season with a record prize purse at Royal Queensland Golf Club.

The 2026 DP World Tour season officially gets underway this week at the BMW Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland GC.

The famous Australian golf tournament features a record prize purse.

The total prize purse at the 2025 BMW Australian PGA Championship is AU$2.5 million, the most in the event’s 121-year history.

The prize fund is an increase of $500,000 on 2024.

Royal Queensland is hosting the Australian PGA for seventh time in total and a fifth straight.

A handful of LIV Golf players are in action this week, none bigger than home favourite Cameron Smith, who is seeking a fourth victory at the Australian PGA.

A win for Smith this week would be something of a shock though given his current form.

Smith has sunk to a remarkable career low after missing the cut at last week's Saudi International.

Joaquin Niemann, who won five times on LIV Golf this year, starts a narrow tournament favourite.

Jose Luis Ballester, who won in Saudi Arabia on the Asian Tour last week, is also in the field, along with Abraham Ancer, who appears as though as he's about to leave Sergio Garcia' Fireballs.

England's Marco Penge, who won three times on the DP World Tour in 2025, is another player towards the front of the betting market.

Former Masters champion Adam Scott and past US Open champion Geoff Ogivly are also in the field.
