Three-time major champion Padraig Harrington has been confirmed for the 2026 Irish Open, joining a star-studded home contingent that already includes Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.

Harrington was today confirmed in the field alongside fellow Irishmen Tom McKibbin and Séamus Power at Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg from 9-13 September.

The appearance will mark Harrington’s 31st consecutive start in Ireland’s national open, underlining his enduring connection to one of the most celebrated events on the DP World Tour calendar.

The Dubliner famously lifted the trophy in 2007 and remains one of the biggest crowd favourites whenever the tournament returns to Irish soil.

“I’m really excited to get back home and play this year’s Amgen Irish Open,” Harrington said.

“It’s a tournament that means a lot to me, and one that I enjoy now more than ever. We love our golf in Ireland, so I have no doubt it will be a special week.”

The 54-year-old also spoke of his excitement at returning to Doonbeg, which hosts the Irish Open for the first time since its redesign.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to Doonbeg,” he added. “It was a lot of fun the last time I played there and I’m sure it will be a great tournament venue.”

McKibbin, meanwhile, is set to make his fifth Irish Open appearance.

The 23-year-old, who currently balances a split schedule between LIV Golf and the DP World Tour, finished inside the top 20 at last year’s championship and continues to establish himself as one of Ireland’s brightest young talents.

“The Amgen Irish Open brings a great deal of excitement to Ireland, and I’m looking forward to again being part of it,” McKibbin said.

“I know the crowds will make it a great week, and I can’t wait to check out the new course and see what we can achieve.”

Power, a two-time PGA Tour winner, will make his seventh appearance in the event and admitted the tournament remains one of the standout weeks of his season.

“This week is such a highlight of my year,” Power said.

“It has an amazing atmosphere, with fans who get behind you after every shot, and it just keeps getting better year-on-year.”

With McIlroy defending the title and Lowry also returning to the field, this year’s Irish Open is shaping up to be one of the strongest and most anticipated editions in recent memory.
