Anthony Kim's long-awaited return to professional golf is now officially underway, and he's got an old pal on the bag to guide him through his homecoming.

Kim, 38, is now officially a LIV golfer and having disappeared from the game of golf almost 12 years ago, he has now returned with a bang.

Having signed a season-long contract with the Saudi-backed league for a reported $7.5 million, Kim will play 11 events as a wildcard, unaffiliated with any team.

Making his debut at LIV Golf Jeddah, Kim will be playing competitively for the first time since 2012, when he teed it up at the Wells Fargo.

Like any pro golfer, the mercurial American will have a new looper on his bag during his time on the LIV Golf Tour, and for the time being, that man is Ryan Todey.

Who is Ryan Todey?

Kim and Todey have been close friends for over two decades, with the pair having forged a close relationship during Kim's formative years on the PGA Tour.

Their friendship was formed over a shared love of golf, and Todey was part of Kim's self-titled "wolf pack", which also included Stephen Ferguson, former agent Chris Armstrong and his caddie at the time, Brodie Flanders.

In 2009, Kim purchased a $2.3 million house in Dallas for the wolf pack to live in that spanned roughly 10,000 square feet.

During Kim's former playing days, Todey's role in the wolf pack was to support him on and off the course, with the three-time PGA Tour winner having claimed in 2010 that golf was a team effort for him.

Born and raised in Ventura, California, Todey played Division 1 Golf at USBC, where he graduated with a degree in Geography.

Currently, he works as a mortgage loan advisor for Neo Loan Home, and he is partnered with an alcohol brand, Black Market Spirit.

Kim had a number of caddies during his six-year stint on the PGA Tour, including Flanders and Eric Larson.

Larson gave an interview with the New York Times in 2023 in which he revealed he had discussed the idea of a comeback with Kim.

He said:

“He goes, ‘I don’t know. I really don’t know.’ I said, ‘Come on, man, get the old clubs out. Go out there and have some fun.’ And he starts laughing at me. He goes, ‘That’s what everybody wants me to do!'”
