Farmers Insurance Open Tips: Best Bets and Odds for Torrey Pines
Farmers Insurance Open 2026 Preview: Expert Betting Tips for the PGA Tour's latest event at Torrey Pines.
The Farmers Insurance Open marks the third event of the new PGA Tour season and brings with it plenty of intrigue, not least the return of five-time major champion Brooks Koepka, who is making his first PGA Tour start since 2022 after leaving LIV Golf at the end of 2025.
With Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy both absent from the field, this year’s Farmers feels wide open. That makes finding the winner far from straightforward – but it also means there is genuine betting value to be found if you look in the right places.
Torrey Pines always presents a stern test.
This PGA Tour event is played across two courses over the first two rounds, with the tougher South Course joined by the more scoreable North.
Those who make the cut then tackle the South exclusively over the weekend.
History tells us this is not a birdie-fest – Harris English won at just 8-under par last year – and patience is often just as important as firepower.
We also have another useful recent form line, with Tiger Woods' Genesis Invitational staged at Torrey Pines South last season, where Ludvig Åberg claimed victory at 12-under.
That only reinforces how demanding this layout can be, unlike the 27-under par Scheffler fired to win the AmEx last week.
Two-time major champion Xander Schauffele heads the Farmers betting at 18/1, and he will be a threat to all if he rediscovering his 2024 form, while the likes of Åberg, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay, Jason Day, Si Woo Kim and Chris Gotterup are also prominent in the market.
Koepka is certainly an eye-catching 66/1 on his return, and while that price will tempt plenty, I’m looking elsewhere this week.
Scroll below for my three outright selections at Torrey Pines.
Let's get into it...
Farmers Insurance Open 2026: Betting Tips
Cameron Young – 25/1
My first pick is Cameron Young, who comes into 2026 with a huge amount of momentum despite this being his first start of the season.
He ended 2025 in superb form, finally breaking through for his maiden PGA Tour win at the Wyndham Championship before reeling off six straight top-11 finishes to close out the year.
Young also impressed on his Ryder Cup debut, finishing as the USA’s joint top points scorer with three points from four matches. I was there on the ground at Bethpage and I got the sense it felt like a real coming-of-age moment for him, despite the final result.
I’m convinced a first PGA Tour title and stellar performance at the Ryder Cup has taken his confidence to the next level.
His Torrey Pines record is limited – a respectable 20th in 2022 and a missed cut at last year’s Genesis – but I’m happy to forgive that latter result given how strong he finished the season overall.
As I say, this feels like a very different Cameron Young now that he’s a PGA Tour winner.
At 25/1, in a field missing the game’s two dominant forces, I think he’s a cracking outright play and a serious contender to kick off his season with a statement win.
Patrick Cantlay – 30/1
Patrick Cantlay is a player who has divided opinion over the past year, and there’s no doubt 2025 was well below his usual standards.
That said, he reminded everyone of his quality at the Tour Championship in August, where he pushed Tommy Fleetwood hard at East Lake.
Cantlay may unthinkably be winless on the PGA Tour since 2022, but when he’s on song, he remains one of the most complete players in the game.
Now ranked outside the world’s top 25, I see that as an opportunity rather than a concern.
Encouragingly, he showed signs of life at last week’s American Express, finishing T13 at 20-under par. That’s the sort of low-key result that can spark a resurgence, and Torrey Pines should suit a focused, motivated Cantlay.
While his overall record here is nothing spectacular, his T5 finish at last year’s Genesis Invitational – played on the South Course all week – is a strong pointer.
At 30/1, I think Cantlay is overpriced and primed to contend.
Ryan Gerard – 40/1
My outsider this week is Ryan Gerard, a player who quietly arrives in red-hot form.
Few golfers on the planet have been more consistent over the past month, with three consecutive runner-up finishes across both the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour.
Gerard finished second at the Mauritius Open, followed that up with another runner-up at the Sony Open, and then tied for second again at The American Express behind Scheffler. That is elite-level consistency, and it tells me a win is not far away.
He also has a solid Torrey Pines data point, finishing 15th here last year, and already knows how to close after winning the Barracuda Championship for his first PGA Tour title.
At 40/1, with each-way terms paying 1/5 the odds, Gerard looks outstanding value for a player riding such a strong wave of form.
So these are my three selections for the Farmers Insurance Open:
- Cameron Young - 25/1
- Patrick Cantlay - 30/1
- Ryan Gerard - 40/1
It’s a wide-open renewal, but all three arrive with either proven class or strong momentum.
As always, please remember to gamble responsibly, and be sure to check out the full list of odds (which are subject to change before Thursday's first round) below.
Good luck.
