Marco Penge reveals he was turned away from golf clubs after Florida move
Marco Penge reveals surprising snub after moving to Florida ahead of PGA Tour debut.

Marco Penge has revealed he was turned away from “a couple” of golf clubs following his recent move to Florida, admitting he may have been “a little too casual” as he settled into life in the United States.
The Englishman, who is now based at Old Palm in South Florida, made the comments ahead of his PGA Tour debut at this week’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
“I’m actually at Old Palm. They’ve been really -- they’re like a real family orientated golf club and super chilled,” Penge told reporters.
“I did try and join a couple of others, but kind of got turned away a little bit. Yeah, I was kind of a little too casual, I think. But myself and Old Palm is a good match and facilities are great there. So yeah, it’s nice to be at a golf club that wants to have me there, so yeah, it’s cool.”
Penge, 27, arrives on the PGA Tour after earning his card via the DP World Tour Rankings in 2025, following a breakout season in which he won three times and pushed Rory McIlroy close in the Race to Dubai.
Although the World No.30 had hoped to begin his PGA Tour campaign earlier this month, illness delayed his start, with Torrey Pines now marking the first official event of his rookie season.
“Yeah, I’d like to have started a little sooner than this week, but yeah, I’m really excited for I’m playing the next four weeks. So Starting here at Torrey Pines and then heading to Phoenix and then Pebble Beach and Riviera is a pretty good start to my life on the PGA Tour. So yeah, I’m super excited.”
Penge is also beginning a new chapter off the course, having recently signed a new equipment deal with PXG after spending the past two seasons with Mizuno. The move followed an extensive testing process in the United States, with early signs already encouraging.
“Took a couple of months of testing. I felt like there was a part in my team that I was missing in a way in terms of I feel like I could have got some -- a couple of one percent gains from my equipment and kind of the team that I was working with.
“I went over to Arizona the week after I won the Spanish Open and spent a couple of days with the guys there at TPC in Scottsdale. Yeah, I was really excited as soon as I got there and I felt like they’re a company that can really support me as a person over here being an American brand.
“I’m excited for kind of what they’re striving to achieve. Yeah, I kind of wanted to be a big part of that. It’s kind of an exciting new chapter for me, so yeah, it’s going to be good.”
Now settled at Old Palm and preparing for a demanding run of PGA Tour venues, Penge’s focus turns fully to proving himself among the world’s best as his long-awaited American adventure finally gets underway.
Penge, who reportedly turned down a lucrative offer to join LIV Golf this season, gets his PGA Tour debut underway at Torrey Pines alongside Tony Finau and Alex Noren for the first two rounds.
Brooks Koepka, formerly of LIV Golf, is making his PGA Tour comeback this week.
