PGA Tour member Greyson Sigg walked off the course mid-way through the pro-am ahead of this week's RBC Canadian Open

A short while later, he was listed as a withdrawal from the stop at TPC Toronto which gets underway on Thursday.

It has now been revealed that Sigg had an entirely acceptable reason for making a quick exit.

The PGA Tour's official communications team have confirmed Sigg was told his wife Katie was going into labour.

"That's the best reason for a withdrawal," one X user wrote. Another added: "Epic! Congrats to them"

Sigg has been replaced in the field by Zac Blair.

He becomes the latest player to withdraw from Canada's national open.

Earlier in the week, Ben Martin, Brandon Matthews, Michael Kim, Anders Albertson, Michael Thorbjornsen and Matt Kuchar withdrew.

Sahith Theegala was in the field but withdrew as he continues to recover from a recent neck injury.

Rory McIlroy headlines the field. The Northern Irishman is making his first start since a disappointing performance at the 2025 PGA Championship.

McIlroy spoke to reporters on Wednesday where he addressed his recent media blackout.

He also explained he was annoyed news his driver had failed a conform ace test was leaked before the PGA Championship.
