Rickie Fowler's caddie confronts heckler at PGA Tour event: "Easy to say over there buddy"
Rickie Fowler's caddie Ricky Romano decided to hit back after the PGA Tour fan-favourite was criticised by a heckler at the Travelers Championship.
Rickie Fowler's caddie decided to take matters into his own hands after the PGA Tour golfer was heckled during the Travelers Championship.
Footage has emerged of the fan-favourite hitting a lag putt at TPC River Highlands last week that came up well short of its intended target.
The 36-year-old decided to putt from off the green and, despite his golf ball comfortably making its way through the first cut of rough, it stopped about 15 feet short.
Sure, it wasn't his best effort but one spectator - perhaps fuelled by alcohol - decided to chirp the former Players champion and let him know how he felt about it.
"Nice lag putt," the voice said with more than a hint of sarcasm.
Fowler heard and decided to stare down the off-camera heckler.
His caddie Ricky Romano could then be heard saying: "Easy to say over there buddy."
It's certainly not the most intense exchange we've seen this season.
Masters champion Rory McIlroy was involved in a notable incident in his practice round before the 2025 Players at TPC Sawgrass.
A college student reportedly made a reference to his 2011 Masters collapse after the Northern Irishman hit a wild tee shot.
McIlroy decided to confiscate the spectator's phone before asking security to remove the red-faced student. He later apologised.
As for Fowler, he went on to finish in a tie for 36th at the final signature event of the 2025 season.
He's back in action at this week's Rocket Classic in Detroit.

Dinner's on Xander
At the same event, Xander Schauffele was praised for an exchange he had with a spectator.
The two-time major champion hit an errant drive that was so far offline it struck a woman on the leg.
According to reddit user Billsandgolf, Schauffele went above and beyond by first profusely apologising and then handing her an $100 bill.
"Dinner's on me," he reportedly said.
"Class act," Billsandgolf wrote. "And he hit a great chip after that as well."
