Scottie Scheffler on cut line after lacklustre second round at Charles Schwab Challenge

PGA Tour superstar Scottie Scheffler has endured a week to forget so far on home turf at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Scottie Scheffler slumped to a lacklustre 1-over 71 in the second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial, and he was also seen wincing in pain with his tee shot down the 2nd hole.

Scheffler, 28, started a red-hot tournament favourite at the beginning of the week.

That was after he captured his third career major title and second victory in a row at the PGA Championship.

But despite enjoying home comforts in Texas this week, Scheffler has failed to ignite with rounds of 68 and 71.

Scheffler was worryingly seen wincing in pain after hitting his tee shot down the par-4 2nd (his 11th) but thankfully he was able to continue his round.

Scheffler did not speak with the media after his round and likely headed straight to the physio truck.

The one big issue for Scheffler so far this week has been his putting.

Scheffler, who is right on the cut mark at 1-under par, ranks well outside the top 100 for SG: Putting (-2.664) thru 36 holes.

The World No.1 has also been sloppy off the tee, finding just over half of his fairways.

The last time Scheffler missed a cut on the PGA Tour came at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in August 2022.

Providing the scores don't get too low in Friday's afternoon wave, Scheffler will just make it through to the weekend.

Scheffler has come close at the Charles Schwab Challenge before but has never managed to win the tournament.

That's looking unlikely to change this weekend since Scheffler looks on from 10 shots behind heading into the weekend.

Recent first-time PGA Tour winner Ben Griffin vaulted to the top of the leaderboard on Friday with a brilliant round of 7-under 63.

Griffin, 29, finds himself out in front on 11-under par.
