Tiger Woods PGA Tour return: The likely events on the golf legend’s schedule

Now that Tiger Woods has been confirmed to play in series two of TGL next year, golf fans are waiting to see when he will make his latest comeback to the PGA Tour.

Woods has not played on Tour since missing the cut at The Open last year, although he did feature with his son, Charlie, at the PNC Championship shortly before Christmas.

The 15-time major champion enjoyed the inaugural season of TGL at the SoFi Center in Florida, although his Jupiter Links team finished in 5th place out of the 6 franchises competing.

But shortly after the competition finished, he made an announcement none of his fans wanted to hear when revealed he was about to undergo surgery on a ruptured Achilles.

The latest in a lengthy list of injuries to Woods in his career would rule him out of action for the remainder of the 2025 season, but he remained adamant that he would make a full recovery.

Woods has been seen on a few occasions during the summer as he supported his 16-year-old son on the junior circuit.

And early last month, videos emerged on social media of Woods hitting balls on the range as he gave a clinic for fans during his Nexus Cup event at Liberty National.

It is not yet known how far along he is in his latest rehab, but he will surely have this year's PNC Championship pencilled in as a possible return as he looks to continue his partnership with his son.

But it's possible we could see him in action again a couple of week's before the parent and child exhibition event in Orlando.

Woods will again be at Albany in the Bahama's to host his annual Hero World Challenge from 4-7 December. He has just announced 17 confirmed starters in the tournament, with three other players to be confirmed over the coming weeks.

That left the door open for the 49-year-old to begin his comeback in familiar surroundings, although it is certain he will take no risks with his surgically-repaired Achilles.

If he doesn't feel ready, then he will focus on the start of the new TGL campaign on 13 January, when his Jupiter Links team take on the New York Golf Club.

There is a chance he still might not be up to competing in the high-tech indoor league by mid-January, but he will surely want to be ready for 1 March when they face Rory McIlroy's Boston Common GC.

As for a return to PGA Tour action, there are a few events that may be tempting, depending on what workload he can handle.

Woods is an eight-time winner at Torrey Pines, including the 2008 US Open, so he could look at teeing it up in the Farmers Insurance Open at the end of January.

However, the terrain at the San Diego venue is one of the most physically demanding, so a more likely venture could be the Genesis Invitational at the shorter, and less-undulating Riviera Country Club. He's there as tournament host, so he'll have his clubs in the boot!

And in March, he would love to have the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship on his radar but, realistically, he'll be more likely to feature at Sawgrass and keep himself as fresh as possible for The Masters in April.

Of course, there are other options. As of 30 December, he will be eligible for another Tour.

Woods will celebrate his 50th birthday at the end of the year and, although he will be loathe to admit it, he could consider some action on the PGA Tour Champions.

It is highly unlikely he will go down the senior route during the TGL, but he may look at a couple of events in California during the second half of March if he wants to ease his way back into tournament golf.

There's the Hoag Classic at Newport Beach or the Galleri Classic at Rancho Mirage a couple of weeks later.

Much will depend on his fitness, and his preferred build-up for The Masters in April, but one certainty is that his return to competition will be debated on a daily basis until Woods confirms his intentions.
