England's Tommy Fleetwood shares the lead after 36 holes of the Travelers Championship

Fleetwood is yet to win an official PGA Tour event but is well-positioned at the halfway stage of the signature tournament in Connecticut.

The 34-year-old, who recently started his own YouTube channel, went round TPC River Highlands on Friday in 5-under 64 to join World No.1 Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas at the summit.

Fleetwood made the turn in level par but managed an eagle on the 13th and holed out from 89 yards at the par-4 15th to add another one to his scorecard.

"It was really tough, actually," Fleetwood said. "I think early on you had to make sure you got your head around that it wasn't a very scorable day, especially on the front nine.

"[I] felt like there was a lot of tough holes. Feel like I scrambled really well."

Thomas carded the best round of the day with a 6-under 64.

The American is looking grab his second PGA Tour victory of the season and secure automatic qualification for the US Ryder Cup team.

Although he scored well, Thomas wasn't too happy with how he was hitting it off the tee.

"I was very patient," he said. "I hit a lot of really, really good iron shots. I felt like I was in good control. I didn't feel like I drove it very well.

"I kept it in play and kept it in front of me, which is a big part of it, but I just kind of kept it out of trouble. I would much prefer to be hitting the middle of the club face and doing that, but it's still a good sign on a really windy day like this.

"If I have far from my best I can get it around the course and just stay patient, and finally made some putts on that back nine. It was nice."

Elsewhere, Masters champion Rory McIlroy went backwards on day two and could only manage a 1-over 71.

McIlroy's card included five bogeys and four birdies.

The Travelers Championship, which does not feature a 36-hole cut, is the final signature event of the 2025 season.

Jordan Spieth was forced to withdraw after 13 holes in round one through injury

A back injury also forced Si Woo Kim to withdraw on day two.
