Throughout the PGA Tour career of Chris Kirk, his wife Tahnee has been constantly by his side.

Chris met Tahnee in 2008 and it appears it was love at first sight as the couple tied the knot 12 months later.

According to the official PGA Tour website, they crossed paths at a mutual friend's blueberry farm.

The rest, as they say, is history. The couple now have three children: Foster, Sawyer and Wilder.

Tahnee went to Oconee County High School and over the course of Kirk's early years on the PGA Tour wrote a blog called 'The Kirks on the Road.'

It has not all been plain-sailing for the Kirks though.

Chris has struggled with alcoholism and depression. He took a six-month break from the game in 2019.

When he returned to the Tour he managed to bag his first victory in more than eight years at The Classic in The Palm Beaches.

Chris was awarded the 2023 PGA Tour courage award.

Tahnee wrote an open letter to her husband after he received the honour.

She said: "Today is a very special day for our family. I am so proud of Chris and what he has overcome.

"After he won, everything was kind of brought to light again. Thinking about where he was when he first quit drinking almost five years ago now, it’s kind of crazy. And now for him to get the PGA Tour's courage award, well, it's just amazing.

"I know this award is going to mean so much to him, but I know that he is still going to think: "Why me?" He's not going to feel deserving because I feel like he thinks of getting sober more as what he had to do. He did, to a certain extent, have to do this.

"But I don't think he realizes what a big deal it is to be so open and honest, and how much that has helped so many people.

"After all, he didn't have to share all of this. He could have kept it private. But I feel like just opening up to the public and showing that vulnerability is pretty amazing.

"Alcoholism and anxiety and depression are not really talked about that much, especially with men. I feel like he is very strong for being so open and honest and sharing all those parts of his story."
