Luke Donald using new techniques to prepare Europe for Ryder Cup
Luke Donald revealed he will use "new techniques" to prepare his European team for the challenge of playing a Ryder Cup in the United States as he welcomes having 11 of his victories players from Rome.
One of Luke Donald's top priorities in the build-up to the Ryder Cup is to make sure his European team are fully prepared to deal with the expected hostility from the New York sports fans at Bethpage Black.
The European captain is determined to silence the locals and lead his side to the first win on away soil in the Ryder Cup since the Miracle at Medinah in 2012.
Donald conceded that playing away from home is a "different animal", and he revealed he would have to prepare his players in a manner that will contrast from two years ago in Rome, where Europe ran out comfortable five-point winners.
The Englishman will have 11 of those 12 players back in his team to defend the trophy at the end of the month, but Donald is fully aware of how tough a challenge it is for visiting Ryder Cup players to avoid being unduly affected by any intimidation from outside the ropes.
Europe have been soundly beaten in three of their last four Ryder Cup contests in the US, but Donald is convinced that he can lead his team to victory with the right preparation this year.

Donald's line-up is now complete after he named Shane Lowry, Jon Rahm, Sepp Straka, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick as his captain's picks, and he will now focus on uniting his team for the challenge ahead.
"I feel amazingly proud of these guys and how well they have played," he said. "Obviously there's a lot of continuity from Rome and it's unusual to have so many people coming back, but just shows how good these players are.
"Even though we have a lot of continuity, this is a different animal, to play away in America. We understand how difficult that is. I've looked at it from very different angles to try and get us prepared for this amazing challenge ahead.
"It's a different challenge, and having the chance to do it again doesn't mean we're going to do the same things we did in Rome. That's about implementing new techniques, and I've really tried to look hard at exactly what this will require.
"I'm very aware that we have lost three of the last four away Ryder Cups by significant margins, and it's a tough challenge. It's a tough environment, but I've tried everything I can to give our team the best opportunity.

"We have to manage that tough environment, first and foremost. We understand that’s the biggest advantage that the USA have. So that’s been my focus for the last 20 months really, to get these guys ready for that. And, I think they will."
Donald also hinted that his plans for Bethpage could also include a change of personnel during the contest, insisting that having the bulk of his Rome team does not guarantee he will field the same pairings at Bethpage.
"Just because we have a very similar team, it doesn't mean we are going to roll out the same pairings or the same line-up in foursomes and fourballs," Donald added. "I think over a two-year period, these players do change. Their profiles change, and we'll adapt to that.
"This isn't certainly a question of rinse and repeat from Rome. In terms of the strategies and thought-processes, I'm trying to come at in this one quite differently to what we did in Rome.
"It's nice to have a continuity within the team, the memories and the experiences that we got to celebrate together. But when it comes to this Ryder Cup, it doesn't necessarily mean we are going to have the same partnerships."
