Ryder Cup: Full line of state troopers called in to remove Rory McIlroy hecklers
Ryder Cup: A full line of state troopers were deployed to the ropes during Rory McIlroy's fourballs match on Saturday at Bethpage as abuse in his direction tipped over the edge.
Rory McIlroy's had enough of the abuse and heckling he's receiving at Bethpage - and so too are Ryder Cup officials as a full line of state troopers were deployed to the ropes of his afternoon fourballs match.
The heckling of European players from a minority of American fans at Bethpage Black has been shocking this week - and it's all been largely aimed at McIlroy.
GolfMagic has heard some truly vile comments from spectators in the direction of the Ulsterman at various stages of each session.
Some fans have been shouting out while McIlroy is swinging the golf club, which is unacceptable no matter the contest.
Then there's just been outright abuse, which has well and truly crossed the line.
According to Alex Perry of Today's Golfer, McIlroy's wife Erica decided to walk in after hearing some of the comments out there.
Even Justin Thomas has turned against his own fans this afternoon as a result of the heckles in the direction of McIlroy.
Thomas reportedly told a group of spectators to 'STFU', just as McIlroy did earlier.
All rather unsavoury out here with Match 1.

Few personal taunts at Rory about a certain rumour that did the rounds last year.
Wife Erica was following the group but looks like she’s decided to get away.
JT’s gone from whipping the crowd up to telling them to STFU.
Grim stuff.
McIlroy reached boiling point during his Saturday morning foursomes match when he was playing alongside Tommy Fleetwood and against Collin Morikawa and Harris English.
He backed off his crucial approach shot from the rough on the par-4 16th to tell a group of spectators behind him to "shut the f*** up".

McIlroy then duly kept his composure to fire a dart at the pin and ensure Europe wrapped up their match 3&2.
He then spoke about the crowd abuse.
McIlroy later added of heckles on the greens: "I'm not going to putt until they shut up."

Immediately after the morning foursomes, McIlroy was back out on Bethpage Black for his afternoon fourballs match alongside Lowry.
They are battling Thomas and Cameron Young in the top match, which is currently tied heading down the closing stretch.
Tournament officials decided enough was enough with the heckling and abuse headed in McIlroy's direction - and Lowry's - and they chose to deploy a full line of state troopers to the rope line, as you can see below.
According to ESPN staff writer Paolo Uggetti, Lowry pointed to one unruly fan on the 10th hole and got him ejected from the course.
The clampdown has begun, and it will remain that way for tomorrow's Sunday singles too - no matter how much you've made for your ticket...
After hitting his tee shot on 10, Shane Lowry just pointed to a fan in the crowd and state police kicked him out.

Not all American fans have a crossed the line with McIlroy at Bethpage though.
GoflMagic caught one particularly nice gesture from an American spectator down the 11th.
