US Open 2025 Live: Round One Scores, Leaderboard Updates, Tee Times and Highlights from Oakmont

US Open 2025 Live: First Round LIVE leaderboard and updates from golf's third major of the season at famed Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.

JJ Spaun posted the lowest round of his major career to vault into the first-round lead at the 2025 US Open.

Spaun, 34, carded a flawless 4-under 66 to hit the front at famed Oakmont Country Club.

It was the first bogey-free round in a US Open at Oakmont since Dustin Johnson's first round in 2016.

Spaun will be hoping that's a good omen since Johnson went on to win his first major title that week.

One-time PGA Tour winner Spaun incredibly made 18 of 19 putts inside of 20 feet during his round of 66.

South Africa's Thriston Lawrence also got off to a fast start with a 3-under 67.

Lawrence, who came close to winning his first major at The Open last July, entered this week off the back of seven missed cuts in eight starts.

Elsewhere, five-time major champion Brooks Koepka, twice a winner of the US Open, bounced back to his best with a solid 2-under 68 alongside South Korean duo Si Woo Kim and Sungjae Im.

Koepka was the last player to successfully defend the US Open in 2018.

Former US Open champion Jon Rahm is also in the red at 1-under par alongside in-form PGA Tour pro Ben Griffin.

US OPEN ROUND 2 TEE TIMES

However, the three tournament favourites starting the week in Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy all had opening rounds to forget.

Scheffler, who started the week a red-hot favourite at the lowest major odds since Tiger Woods in 2009, has it all to do at 3-over par.

DeChambeau, who is attempting to become the first player to successfully defend the US Open since his LIV Golf peer Koepka, matched Scheffler's round of 73.

McIlroy, who has switched his driver again, fared a shot worse with a 4-over 74.

It promised much more when McIlroy started out with two early birdies but he came back in 41 shots.

McIlroy then once again shunned media requests just as he did all four tournament days at the PGA Championship.

Scheffler finishes +3

Scheffler +3, Morikawa Par, Hovland +1 (F)

Scheffler two-putts from 30 feet on the par-4 18th to card a lacklustre 3-over 73.

The World No.1 is seven shots off the pace heading into the second round.

The bookies have pushed his odds out from 11/4 starting the tournament to a current 6/1.

He's incredibly still the favourite, now alongside Rahm.

Scheffler will be off early on Friday, however, and no doubt intent on hauling himself back into contention heading into the weekend.

Morikawa and Hovland both made birdies on the par-4 18th playing alongside Scheffler.

Hovland sent home a tramliner to card a 1-over 71, while Morikawa drained a six-footer to card a level-par 70.

That's it for our R1 updates today.

We'll back tomorrow to take you through second round updates from the US Open.

Rahm finishes in the red

Rahm -1 (F)

A solid day for LIV Golf's Rahm.

He two-putts from 30 feet on the par-4 18th to finish the round in the red at 1-under par.

Rahm will fancy his chances of adding a second US Open title and a third career major from here.

The Spaniard won the US Open in 2021.

Bogey for Im back to 2 under

Im -2 (17*)

Im splashes out of sand on the par-3 8th to five feet.

But he fails to convert the par save.

Another bogey goes down on the card for Im and he's back into a tie for fourth.

He was 5-under not so long ago. But that's Oakmont for you.

23:33
Koepka to 2 under

Koepka -2 (F)

It's a birdie-birdie finish for five-time major champion Koepka, who has looked back to his best today.

Koepka has two US Open titles to his name.

He was the last player to successfuly defend the US Open in 2018.

Danger man for sure.

23:14
Koepka into the red

Koepka -1 (17)

It's been an up and down round for Koepka, just like so many out there on Thursday, but the five-time major champion has got himself back in the red with a birdie on 17.

Koepka to 1-under and three back.

23:12
Scheffler +3

Scheffler +3 (15)

The day gets worse.

Scheffler misses a four-footer for par on the par-4 15th to slump to 3-over par.

The World  No.1 looks down and out.

Rahm shocking bogey

Rahm -1 (15*)

Rahm hit a decent tee shot on the par-3 6th to 18 feet.

But he sent  his birdie putt some five feet past the hole and then missed the return for par.

It's a bogey for Rahm and he's back to 1-under par.

That's still very much in contention.

22:48
Scheffler bogey at 13

Scheffler +2 (13)

The day goes from bad to worse for Scheffler,  who makes another bogey at 13.

The World No.1 is six shots back at 2-over par.

22:40
Spaun back in outright lead

Im -3 (13*)

The wheels look to be coming off for South Korea's Im.

That's now back to back bogeys, this time at the par-5 4th.

Spaun leads on his own again.

22:35
Cam Young to 2 under

Young -2 (12*)

My second each-way pick Cam Young is also picking up the pace.

I tipped up Young  at 100/1 in my latest betting tips feature.

Young has never won on the PGA Tour, but who knows, maybe his first win will be a major?!

The big-hitting American has just made two birdies in a row to move into a tie for seventh.

Young played nicely last week and was unfortunate not to finally seal the deal in Canada.

His time is coming...

Burns to 3-under

Burns -3 (14)

Burns drains a 30 footer for birdie on the 14th to move into a tie for third on 3-under par.

My 66/1 tip is doing me proud so far.

22:23
Rahm eagle

Rahm -2 (13)

Here comes LIV Golf's Rahm.

The 2021 US Open has just drained an eagle from 10 feet at the par-5 4th.

It vaults Rahm up to 2-under par.

And just like that he's two back.

Leader makes bogey

Im -4 (12*)

Im finds the Church Pews and is forced to layup down the par-4 3rd.

It eads to his first bogey of the round and he's back to 4-under par in a tie for the lead alongside JJ Spaun, who has his feet up in the clubhouse.

22:18
Scheffler par at 12

Scheffler +1 (12)

Pars are good at Oakmont, but not especially at 12.

That's because it's one of two par-5s.

Scheffler remains at 1-over par.

His playing partners Hovland  and Morikawa also made a mess of it.

Morikawa was up by the green in two shots but a bogey from absolutely nowhere.

Hovland had a 30 footer for eagle and walked off with a par after missing a two-footer for birdie.

Morikawa and Hovland are at level par.

22:12
HUGE PGA TOUR BOMBSHELL

Some big PGA Tour news has just broken during the first round of the 2025 US Open at Oakmont.

Nobody saw this coming?!

22:08
Burns to 2 under

Burns -2 (12)

My 66/1 tip for you is still hanging in there *winky face*

Burns gets up and down for birdie on the par-5 12th to bump himself up to 2-under par in a tie for fifth.

Sungjae Im hits the front

Im  -5 (11*)

This is some round from Im.

He sends a wedge in to eight feet beyond the pin at the short par-4 12th and then sinks the putt for a fifth birdie of his round.

Im to 5-under and one clear.

The 27-year-old South Korean is making his 24th major appearance this week.

His career best in a major is T2 at the 2020 Masters.

Scheffler birdie

Scheffler +1 (11)

The back and forth continues for Scheffler.

He's just sent home a 20 footer for birdie on the par-4 11th.

Back to 1-over and five back.

Im joins the lead

Im -4 (10*)

Sungjae Im pours in a fourth birdie of the round at the 1st to jump into a share of the lead.

Im is seeking a first major title.

Pavon flawless to 3 under

Pavon -3 (8*)

It's not been a season to remember for Pavon so far but he's putting it all to one side in the first round of the US Open.

Pavon has just popped in a third birdie in eight holes to move it to 3-under par in a tie for second.

The Frenchman arrived at Oakmont off the back of two missed cuts, but you wouldn't think it after this start.

Spieth under par

Spieth -1 (10)

Spieth's rollercoaster round continues.

The popular American is back into the red at 1-under par after a birdie on the 1st, his 10th of the round.

Spieth is going in search of a second US Open title having won at Chambers Bay in 2015.

21:14
Scheffler bogey

Scheffler +2 (10)

Scheffler is not at the races today.

He found deep rough off the tee and then compounded the error by coming up shy of the green with his third shot.

Scheffler, to his credit, holed an eight footer for bogey but it sends him back to 2-over again.

How are his playing partners doing you ask?

Morikawa just made his first bogey of the round to fall back to level par, while Hovland just made his first birdie of the day to join Scheffler on 2-over.

Room for improvement for the star-studded three-ball.

Neergaard-Petersen into T2

Neegaard-Petersen -3 (4)

The big-hitting Dane chips in for an eagle on the par-5 4th to vault up into a tie for second on 3-under par.

He's playing in his first US Open and second career major having missed the cut at the PGA.
