Miles Russell's impressive week at the 2026 U.S. Open ended with a classy gesture.

The youngest player in the 156-man surprised his father, Joe, with a special gift on Father's Day.

Russell, 17, was able to have his old man take over as caddie after he hit his approach to the 18th hole.

Making the moment even better was the fact that Joe had absolutely no idea that it was planned.

Russell, who finished on an impressive seven-over par, had to get clearance from USGA officials before the round.

"It was a pretty special week," he told reportrers. "Just to be here was really special, and to make the cut was kind of bonus points.

"I didn't quite have my best stuff the last two days, but still really cool. Just a great experience."

Asked what it was like to surprise his dad, Russell added: "It was pretty cool. Just there walking up 18, that's when he stepped in.

"It was kind of a fun Father's Day gift. Kind of cool since it was my first one. Hopefully it's something he'll remember for a long time."

Russell qualified for the third men's major of the year by surviving a brutal 36-hole qualifier at BallenIsles Country Club in Florida.

He was one of four players to snatch a golden ticket, making a clutch birdie in a playoff.

Tiger Woods' son, Charlie, caddied for Russell but the teenager decided against having his pal on the bag this week.

Instead, his coach Ramon Bescansa assumed looping duties.

Russell played the first two rounds of the major alongside major champions Padraig Harrington and Cameron Smith.

Harrington, 54, was impressed by what he witnessed, telling reporters: "He played lovely golf.

"It looked like he could hit it down a rope. I think he wants narrower fairways, if you ask me. He looked lovely."

We'll have to wait a few more years before Russell turns pro.

He'll join Charlie at Florida State next year.
