Angry Max Homa launches golf club in final round of PGA Championship

PGA Tour star Max Homa was seen throwing his golf club in frustration on the 3rd hole during the final round of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club.

Homa, 34, sprayed his drive of the tee and was forced to lay up into the fairway with his approach shot into the 495-yard par-4 3rd. 

The American then sent his third shot into the first cut of rough just off the back of the green.

As the camera panned back to Homa, he launched his iron in disgust some 50 yards in front of him. 

He then chipped up to six feet but missed the bogey putt.

The double sent Homa to 2-over par in the tournament and outside the top 50 at the time.

Homa's frustrations will no doubt have been a result of a disappointing third round at the PGA Championship. 

The six-time PGA Tour winner was in contention for a first career major title after firing a joint low round of the week 64 on Friday. 

But Homa blew his chance big time with a dismal 5-over 76 on Saturday. 

That sent Homa back into the pack at level par and 11 shots behind Scottie Scheffler, who was playing alongside him in the third round. 

Homa has been seriously struggling for form the past couple of seasons on the PGA Tour. 

His last top-10 finish came at this venue exactly 12 months ago during the Wells Fargo Championship, which is now the Truist Championship. 

Once fifth in the world, Homa currently looks on from the 78th rung of the ladder. 

Homa's tantrum was one of a number we have seen from players at the PGA Championship this week. 

Albeit from some usual suspects. 

Shane Lowry saw red after being denied relief in the fairway, and Tyrrell Hatton was up to his old tricks again by dropping his latest X-rated outburst.
