England's Tyrrell Hatton says his latest X-rated outburst of anger during the second round of the PGA Championship was not his finest moment.

Hatton made a blistering start to round two of the second men's major of the year at Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina on Friday.

The LIV Golf recruit raced out of the blocks and put two circles on his scorecard over his first eight holes.

But Hatton - who started on the back nine - then came unstuck on the treacherously difficult par-4 18th.

Hatton's golf ball found the stream and he was forced to take a drop. Because of the thick rough, he could only hack his golf ball back into the fairway.

His next shot came up short right of the green and his frustration was compounded when he failed to find the green with his fourth shot. A chunked chip trickled back towards his feet.

It led to a devastating treble bogey. Hatton went on to card 2-over 73 to comfortably make the cut.

Hatton's outburst of anger actually transpired on the 18th tee box before the calamity took place where hot mics picked up an F-bomb.

It also appeared that Hatton used the word 'c---' as he vented frustration towards himself for hitting an errant drive.

One reporter asked Hatton he completed his round to clarify what he said. "You tell me, you've seen it," came the reply from Hatton.

Hatton was told what most people on social media assumed he had said.

He added: "Okay, well either way it wasn't my finest moment on the course but I mean yeah, running hot in the moment I'm pretty good at sometimes saying the wrong thing.

"So yeah, I'll leave it at that."

This is not the first time Hatton has made the headlines for his behaviour on the golf course.

Last November, Sky Sports golf commentator Ewan Murray labelled Hatton 'a terrible influence' after the golfer once again reacted angrily to a poor shot.

That outburst occurred during the DP World Tour Championship. During that stop, he also snapped one of his wedges and criticised the conditions of the greens.

"It's time for a change I'm afraid," Murray previously said on the broadcast.

"What a terrible influence on the next generation. I'm sorry to say it, I'm his biggest supporter as a golfer.

"But just have a look at this. Why? Why would you do that? We've all had our moments but he's having too many of them."

Following the stinging criticism, Hatton turned up the next day with the words 'be nice' on his glove.

Hatton is one of 16 LIV Golf recruits in the field at the PGA Championship.

The 33-year-old topped the LIV Golf leaderboard at the PGA Championship on day one.

Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith, Martin Kaymer and Dean Burmester were among those from the PIF-backed league that missed the 36-hole cut.

Hatton's angry moment wasn't the most viral moment from day two.

Shane Lowry was denied relief on the eighth fairway despite it appearing as though his golf ball was embedded.

Lowry reacted by slamming his club into the turf
