England's Marco Penge has revealed he will tee it up at the PGA Championship after receiving positive news from the results of an MRI scan.

The 27-year-old arrives at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania as a dark horse to contend for the Wanamaker Trophy.

He announced himself on the world stage in 2025, winning three times on the DP World Tour to secure his PGA Tour card.

But since battling Rory McIlroy for the Race to Dubai title last November, Penge has faced persistent health issues.

He caught a viral infection and has been forced to miss several PGA Tour events, including last week's Myrtle Beach Classic, after suffering vertigo symptoms.

Penge wrote in a statement on social media that he decided "enough was enough" and went to hospital for an MRI scan on his brain to try and identify the issue.

He revealed that the news he received was positive and he intends to make it to the first tee on Thursday.

"Unfortunately, I have had a recurring problem with my ear/neck/nervous system since I had a viral infection back in November last year," he wrote.

"Last week, I decided enough was enough after getting another sinus infection and vertigo symptoms.

"I proceeded with an MRI scan on my brain, head and neck and got the results back today.

"Thankfully, the images were great, and so a few of the doubts I have had have gone away, which is a big relief.

"I'm battling to get fully fit again, and hopefully that's not too far away.

"Thank you for your support as always! Looking forward to playing my second PGA Championship this week."

Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick and LIV Golf recruit Tyrrell Hatton are considered the nation's best hopes.

Rose, who switched to a set of McClaren irons last month, denied the equipment switch led to his recent slump in form

Fitzpatrick said it would feel 'weird' if he ever found himself in contention against his younger brother Alex.

Alex, 27, won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Matt and has posted back-to-back top five finishes on the PGA Tour.
