WATCH: Brooks Koepka hits INSANE shot from deep rough at US Open...

Brooks Koepka arguably hit the shot of US Open week when hitting a wedge from deep rough to within five feet on the second hole.

Koepka struck his drive way right off the tee on the tricky par-4 second, and then double-crossed his second shot into the deep rough some 100 yards short of the green.

But the big-hitting American gouged the ball out with his wedge and ran his ball up to within five feet of the cup, before going on to hole the par putt. Watch the incredible shot below...

From there, the World No.1 took momentum in the next two holes and made consecutive birdies to pull within two strokes of the lead currently held by compatriot Gary Woodland.

Koepka is bidding for an historic threepeat at the US Open, which has only ever been achieved by one player in Willie Anderson in 1905.

He is also looking to win a fifth major in his last nine major starts, which was a feat last achieved by Tiger Woods in 2002.
