TaylorMade releases video showing how Rory McIlroy's new SIM2 driver is built

Golf fans are absolutely loving TaylorMade's latest video, where Chris Trott takes you behind the scenes and into the TaylorMade Tour Truck at Torrey Pines for this week's Farmers Insurance Open.

Trottie takes you through all the considerations, building and spec work that goes into building an all-new SIM2 driver for TaylorMade superstar and four-time major champion Rory McIlroy.

It's certainly an interesting watch to see how much detail goes into creating the perfect specs for the best players in the world and with McIlroy making his first PGA Tour appearance of 2021, Team TaylorMade will be hoping for a victory at Torrey Pines this week.

As well as hosting this week's Farmers Insurance Open, Torrey Pines is also the venue for the US Open this year in June and McIlroy is hoping to build momentum at a course where he has performed very well over the past two years.

"I think it's a wonderful layout for a major championship," said McIlroy ahead of this week's PGA Tour action. "To have a U.S. Open here, it stands up to basically the most elite level of golf that we play, the toughest test we face all year for the most part.

"I'm not really going to be thinking about what they're going to do because I just have to play the golf course that's in front of me this week. But as I said, I think three competitive rounds on the South Course this week, it will be fresh in my memory when it comes around to June and the U.S. Open being on."
